Another quality Herschel bag! I’d give it 4. 25 stars, truthfully — the only dings being no zipper pocket inside and I’d really love it (personally) if it was 5L smaller for use as an everyday bag.

The good: I love the quality of the fabric. I bought the navy blue and it’s held up very well. And, it holds a lot. The bad: two impt details are a complete miss and make it a pain to travel with it: 1) the trolley sleeve — which is meant to attach it to your luggage handle — really should be at least an inch or two longer. I have an Away suitcase (the small carryon) and it’s such a struggle to get the sleeve over the suitcase handle. I’ve pretty much given up. 2) the pockets on the front, which they say are water bottle holders, are very small and only hold a small diameter bottle — definitely not most of the commonly-sized metal bottles you’d take on a trip or flight. I don’t know why they even bothered with these pockets.

Sized just a bit more than your average gym bag, The Novel Duffel Tech is a nice size for a weekend worth of items, or a light pack for flight carry-on. The dimension is also slightly taller, but this is most likely due to the accommodation for the bottom separate compartment for shoes or soiled items. There are some additional interior slots for loose items in the main compartment that mimic the small exterior slots. I wish there were more as the main compartment is roomy. The secondary compartment is not for bulk and design for flat or loose items that may be flat. The padded slot for a laptop is also an additional feature which no other duffel really has out there on the market. Overall, this is rather a smart design bag with the only a single drawback that the main compartment does not have a wider opening. The magnetic snaps that pair the handles is also a very nice detail to have.

Been a long time Herschel fan so I thought I’d give this bag a try since I travel for work frequently. This duffle bag doesn’t really feel like it should be labeled tech bag. When filled the side pouches are very difficult to add your laptop, cables and things into. Overall did not like this bag.

Fantastic! I just wish it was easier to put the shoes in. If I have a laptop in the bag and go to the gym, I have to turn the bag sideways so I can get my shoes under the laptop. Not really sure how to solve that without losing more space to the shoe compartment

All in all, it’s a beautiful bag for weekend trips. Car rides. Overnight stays. However, it is just shy of being practical for airplane travel (opinion of course). Hard to close zipper as well (especially one handed). I took off one star for this reason.

Upgraded from the normal duffle and it was the best decision. I love that I don't need to take an extra bag for my laptop on my travels. Even without a laptop, the extra compartment can be used to protect books or smaller items that can be sorted.

Previous Herschel duffles have had defective handles/straps made from a material that deteriorates. The company never made it right with consumers. I basically got hooked on the shoe storage innovation and am giving them another try. Let's see!

This was a nice bag. Great inner pocket for laptop and plenty of space. Unfortunately, the strap to attach to the handle of a carry on suitcase is too small for mine. It needs to be 1-2 inches bigger.

I did a lot of research looking for the best duffle suitable for a few days of travel as well as all of my tech gear. I have to say, this is by far the best and even exceeded my expectations.
