Let me start by saying that I love this bag. Have used it 30+ nights. Love the synthetic fill and the construction is solid. Fit is good. It’s clearly an economy priced bag and so the features reflect that. The cinches for the face opening are a little clunky and the neck baffle is basic. But all in all, it’s a really comfy bag. The issue that costs it a star in my review is that it is absolutely and completely NOT a -20 bag. I accept the reality of what it is capable of and don’t take this one when the temps go below high single digits Fahrenheit. My assessment is that it’s awesome in the 20’s, passable in the high teens but totally not up to the task in the single digits or lower. Again, I love this bag. I just wish mountain hardware would get accurate with its rating or else actually add the fill required to make this thing an actual -20 degree bag.
I took this bag on a winter Grand Canyon trip. Perfect bag, I was only cold when I decided to test its limits and wore no layers to bed. A little long for me at 5’5”, but I could hide fully inside it on extra cold nights. Great to have the synthetic for dew, condensation, and general winter damp. It doesn’t pack down small but that was fine with me for a river trip.
I used this in the Adirondacks where it dropped to 10 degrees. I was very warm. It’s nice knowing the bag can get a little wet and damp and it’ll be fine unlike down which gets ruined in wet conditions. I was able to pack this down into my 65L Osprey bag to which it took up about half my bag but I was still able to pack a 7 lb 4 season tent and enough gear for a 3 day winter trip. It snowed all 18 miles of my hike and the bag didn’t get wet. While sleeping in 10 degree weather, I was extremely warm and comfortable. The other 6 people I camped with used the 0 degree Bishop pass and were cold at times and their bag got damp because the condensation inside the tent. The Lamina -20 was fine since the material is somewhat waterproof. Overall this bag made my 3 day Adirondack trip great because I was able to sleep very well paired with the Therma Rest neoair NXT pad. The only downside really is how bulky it is compressed since it’s synthetic bag but I don’t mind because all my gear fits in my bag regardless. Great bag!
Camped a few nights with the sleeping bag, it did well in 30F temperatures although next time i'll have to try with a higher R-value pad. It is heavier/bulkier than others i've had, but in terms of warmth and comfort its the best sleeping bag I've had so far!
This is an Amazing Bag. I needed this for college next year in the Adirondacks where it gets really cold during the winter. It is a little hard to compress down to a manageable backpacking size, but after you do it a couple times, you get into a rhythm.
Love this sleeping bag! the best value for money. It's warm and durable. I used it in minus 15 C.
NOT A -20 BAG. Left my feet and shoulders very cold on a night that didn’t get below 20F.
Just received. Haven’t used yet in extreme cold yet but pleased with quality so far.
Great bag! Needed a bag for late season hunting. -20c and slept like a baby.
Extremely warm in teen temperatures. Soft and lightweight.
