I really like all the different cinching straps for maximum customizableness. The adjustable height for diff frames of people is also an awesome feature. Good weight optimization, product feels strong but not heavy. Lots of great storage. Great padding in the hips Many REI touches, like qr codes for packing tips.
I am getting ready to hike some of the appalachian trail, and this is my first hike pack! So far I have been using it on weekend hike camps on the Florida trail and walking around with it on local trails in my city for several miles at a time to learn how to arrange my pack and adjust it to reduce fatigue in areas of my body that get tired first. That said, this pack has been amazing. I am happy I got a slightly larger size than I normally am because I have a longer torso. I have been able to fit everything I think I'll need in this bag. It has support structures in it, but i dont even feel them. I like the back adjustments especially that shift how the weight feels. The color is great too. So far have used it in light rain and everything stayed dry. It is pretty straightforward and simple bag, with just the right amount of pockets. Water bottle holder placement fits various sizes and provides easy access while in movement. The stitching is where it shines, very well made and will limely be the only hike pack I'll need for a very long time.
This is a very roomy backpack with a lot of compartments. I tested this on a semi technical trail to see if it would be good to take on a Grand Canyon rim to rim trip. It was very comfortable and secure. I would recommend this backpack for long trips as you can fit a lot in. I had a change of clothes, first aid kit, food, pair of shoes and some other "tools". I like that it has zipper pockets on each side of the pack that are easily accessible to keep a quick snack or your phone. I'm 5' and 58 and this fit me well and was very comfortable. I live in Wisconsin and I feel this will hold up to the all the elements we experience sometimes in one day.
This bag is for my wife Features I loved: the color, the adjustable height, the hip pockets. This bag has been the right size for her considering we’re not your “let’s hit the Appalachian Trail for a few days family”. We’re more of a “I think I packed too much for this overnight camping trip” family I received these pack free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review.
I have not had the opportunity to use this pack yet. The pack seems well constructed and the color is bright. The pack will hold a lot of supplies and includes packing instructions. REI items are always worth giving a try.
I received this backpack from the REI Trailblazer program in exchange for a review. First, I really liked the many compartments. The huge main compartment has a wonderful divider that can be used to separate the larger top half from the smaller bottom half, and side zippers to access it to pull out anything without having to take out everything. So convenient! The smaller pocket in front of the main one is good for hats or other lightweight storage, and is again easily accessible. The pull tabs are great, easy to use and not flimsy at all. This seems like it will last a long while. There is a small top pouch above the main pouch, in the cover. The cover protect from rain, but it’s been in the 80s since I received it, so I have not tested that yet. The height is easily adjusted and the instructions are clear and a QR code is printed on the inside flap in case you need help. The front belt has two small storage pockets for snacks or keys even. It was comfortable to wear and helps distribute the load evenly. I did not take it in a long camping hike just yet, but I know where I would store my water bottles in the side slots, pack up and go. I like the color too which is always a bonus.
