I purchased my first Benchmade knife from REI in 2007. This Mini Crooked River is the eighth (not all from REI) and first one that was not 5 star out of the box. The blade was off center and the pivot was so tight the blade was difficult to open. It was also missing the microfiber storage bag and company literature. I am not sure if it came from the factory like that or is a returned product that was not properly repackaged. Not the Benchmade / REI experience I expected. As for the knife, once the blade was centered and the pivot tension properly adjusted it looks and works great.

I’ve had a Mini Crooked River with the S30V for a couple years. It’s a great knife, but I have it to a close friend recently. So I replaced it with the MagnaCut version. What a fantastic knife. Razor sharp from the start, perfect blade centering and good action. The knife is beautiful and just a pleasure to own and use. I’m glad for the purchase. REI makes owning a new Benchmade palatable with 20% off for members, which they do a couple times a year. Thanks for the great knife and for treating members so well.
