Old Town - Bow Float
TOMMY

I recently purchased the NRS Standard (SMALL) in order to add floatation to the bow of an Old Town Loon 120 Kayak. The small fits well and when in place it ends a few inches before the foot pegs which to me means it maximizes floatation in the space available. I used epoxy to attach two pad eyes to right and left side of interior and used small carabiners to secure bag to the kayak. Thus no chance that floatation would become dislodged during any rollover incident and easy to take in and out. The bag is a great match for kayak and does just what I wanted.

They don't hold air

I bought four of these, two for each kayak that needed flotation bags. Two are still holding air a year and a half later, two leak through the valve. I can find no way to stop the leaking. It appears to be a defect in the valve in that it just doesn't shut completely. Really frustrating to pay this much money and half of the products develop a leak in a year and a half.

Great product, but description is misleading

Medium size fits perfectly to the bow of my Pungo 120. I just don't understand why REI call it Stern Bag. It can work perfectly on either stern or bow, wherever it's needed.

Stern Float bag

This is an excellent bag made out of great materials with an eye to details. I am using one of these on the stern of my Dagger Zydego 9' which has a center foam support. This bag is large enough to fill most of the space behind the seat leaving a small space for a little gear/lunch.

Adds buoyancy and displaces water

Installed the small model in the bow of my Perception Expression 11.5 because it doesn't have a forward bulkhead. It adds additional flotation and will displace water in the event of a capsize. It fits great and appears to be very well made. I expect it to be quite durable, the lifetime warranty by NRS attests to the confidence they have in this product.

HUGE disappointment

This is what i would expect from the Walmart kids toy section for $3.99; NOT a $41.00 "piece of kayaking equipment" from NRS/rei. POOR quality of construction material

Looks like a good air bag

I just got it. It looks tough enough. Hope the smooth plastic is abrasion resistant.

Great float bag!

Super easy to use bow bag. Fit well into my daughter's kayak. Seems very well made and I couldn't be more pleased.
