Love the bottle but much too small for much use. If this was 16oz and had one on each hand, would be great, but one 12oz can't really get me to the next aid station.

Leaky Lid

I wanted so badly to like this product. I loved that it collapses to nothing so that at the end of the run you're not still carrying around a bulky, empty bottle. Additionally, the strap makes it very easy to hold, almost like you forget it's there. However, the lid simply will not screw shut no matter how hard I try and continues to leak. Because of the small size, it is necessary to refill on longer runs and the hassle of trying to finagle the lid shut mid-run is just not worth it.

No zero star rating!

Bought thinking it would be perfect for my shorter runs...promptly tossed the receipt because, well, itself a Nathan. Immediately realized there is no filling the bottle with the sleeve on, so took the sleeve off, filled, and tried to put sleeve back on while the lid leaked all over the place. Finally get the sleeve on with half a bottle of water gone and take a drink... seriously the most foul thing I have ever tasted! I actually threw up from the taste feeling it caused - and yes I washed the bottle. Not sure what is in the plastic, but have washed numerous times, soaked the nozzle in water, vinegar, and hot/cold alternating. Get nauseous every time I try! This was a terrible waste of 40 bucks that I will never get back! What a waste!!!!

Great for mid-length runs

I bought this bottle several months ago and have used it at least a few times each week. I initially had some problems with the top leaking, as others have reported, but I found that by repositioning it and rescrewing it, the leaking stopped - I think it is just a little difficult to line up the cap and the bottle, ensuring a tight fit. I really like the grip on this bottle - I don't really like holding or carrying things on runs, but with this bottle, you don't actually have to grip it while running. The design of the straps mean you can keep your hands relaxed and the bottle won't fall off. This bottle is great for longish runs in hot weather. However, it is a pretty small bottle, so I find that I run out of water with any run over 6 miles. Note, however, that Shanghai is really really hot and humid, so I expect that as the weather cools, the water amount will last better! I plan to order a second bottle for my other hand for longer runs.

Great Bottle, Product

I bought this for an upcoming 100 miler and this did not disappoint. The strap is very comfortable and extremely lightweight. I have had zero problems with the top or bottle. The only complaint is if you are looking to order extra bottles to change out it fits extremely tight which makes bottle changing more difficult so if you are looking to save time just buy an additional complete set up and not just replacement bottles. FANTASTIC PRODUCT!

Good for running

I read reviews before buying it and was concerned about leaking. Yes, it would leak if you squeeze it hard but generally I do not consider it to be a problem, at least not for running when you hold bottle upright and couple of drops do not hurt. First thing I removed case because it's just a hassle to fill bottle with it. When you fill bottle make sure to top it to minimize amount of air left and after it is closed sip little bit to remove the air. I found that atmospheric pressure nicely helps preventing leaking. In fact at the end of the run when the bottle is empty it is quite hard to open it so I have to blow air into it. Overall nice product after you figure out how to operate with it.

Great Idea - Terrible Engineering

My wife and I visited Tucson recently and forgot to pack water bottles for our morning runs. REI to the rescue. We loved the idea of a strapped hand soft bottle. Everything works great except for the cap. it leaked on both bottles. Not at the thread as you might expect, but at the sipping area on both. Unfortunately, we forgot the bottles in the rental car at the airport and couldn't return them.

Leaky bottle

I really wanted to like this bottle, as the hand strap design and smaller, more flexible bottle seems more ergonomically friendly than similar designs. But when I tried it out, my bottle leaked like crazy where the cap screws on. It leaked no matter how firmly I screwed the cap on. I don't know if I got a bad bottle or it's a faulty design, but it made the bottle useless for me. I wanted to fill it with a sports drink for my upcoming 10k. That would have been a sticky mess for sure.

Good bottle for shorter runs

This is a great bottle for those ~30 minute days. Its kind of small but that means no extra bulk that you don't need. It does require a little technique to fill to capacity as some others have mentioned, but after you have that down its simple enough (fill the flask outside of the sleeve, cap it, and carefully slip it back on; its a snug fit). Others have mentioned leaks, but I haven't had any issues outside of a drop or two, which is kind of expected from that type of bite valve system in my experience. The storage pocket feels a bit tight, and it can take a little work to get a gel in there, but at least you know its not going anywhere once its in, and they are easy to get back out. I really like the integrated spine on the bottle; it collapses nicely in your hand as you drain it, and the wrist strap is very comfortable as well.

Best handheld available

Awesome handheld. I've used the 12oz, 14oz and 20oz bottles and love how it holds in/to my hand. Very durable. Each bottle has lasted continuous year-round use. I've only replaced a bottle once due to damage, but writing that off as three years of regular use. The sleeve constricts the bottle and prevents from filling a full 12oz, but I've removed the sleeve from every bottle I purchased allowing me to fill the bottle to the max. In fact, I've never used the sleeve so I'm not really sure what it's purpose is. Easy to clean and sanitize. Parts are all removable and scrubbed weekly. The 12oz i received is slightly different than the one pictured. It no longer has a twist locking top (good) and has a flat bottom instead of the pointed bottom (pictured).
