Rated 2 out of 5 by from Love the sandals but the soles don't hold up I've been wearing Chaco Z/1 sandals for several years. When my last pair wore out, I bought a replacement pair from REI in March 2016. By July 2016, the soles had worn through and cracked. Chaco replaced them for free (not counting shipping costs) and said there was a bad batch of sole material. The replacement pair lasted August 2016 to May 2017. I wear sandals a lot, though not through the winter, so the actual wear time was probably 5 months or so. Both soles now have 1.5" long cracks. I'm sending that pair to Chaco for one last try. I love these sandals - simple design, solid footbed - but I need them to last years, not months. If it weren't for the soles, I would give these 4-5 stars.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Quality has gone down i had a pair of these i bought 8 or 10 years ago and was impressed with the quality and comfort of the soles. i bought a new pair this year and things have changed. the sole is not comfortable and in fact rubs my feet pretty badly. The sole is no longer Vibram. The straps seem to be lower quality material but i could be wrong. Overall i am not impressed with where Chaco's have been going.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from what happened to the Vibram? Bought the mens z/1 in april and 4 months later the sole nearly snapped in half also the tread is visibly diminished, chaco stopped using the vibram sole, Chaco user for 10 years.... not anymore

Rated 1 out of 5 by from New soel much worse than old Vibram sole Have been a loyal Chaco wearer for years. But the new soles are much cheaper. Did not last.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Returned them I tried making them work for me, but the straps felt tight and the ball of my foot was uncomfortable because the rubber felt too hard. I own several pairs of Chaco leather shoes with the same rubber platform that I really like, but I had to add Spenco inserts to make them more comfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Now I can wear socks I have a pair of Z2s, but I wanted to try wearing socks, because I wasn't quite as dorky as I could be. Sure enough, I can wear socks with these. Generally digging my Chacos. These are the same size as my existing pair, which is a couple of years old, and the outsole is just a little smaller - though the footbed fits. It could be that all the walking in the other ones has smushed them. It also appears that you can no longer buy new Chacos with Vibram soles - but the outsole on these is holding up pretty well. Good traction, etc. Straps are a little wider and softer then the old Z2s, and it feels pretty comfortable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good sandals I bought these two weeks ago and they are fairly comfortable. They appear to be well made. The fit is as good as it can be. My only problem with them is the length of the straps after I tighten them. My straps drag on the ground/floor as I have narrow feet. This is a minor issue to me. See photo.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Only shoe I use for spring and summer I was not pleased with the fact that Chaco desided to shave of a bit of rubber from -the sole on the Z-1. I purchased a pair of Z-1's about 7 years ago and those soles are thicker! I've resoled them one time so far. The whole point of this sandal in my opinon is in its solid-weighty construction, that's why I bought them. I hope Chaco doesn't shave off too much else from this great sandal.

Questions & Answers

I wear a size 10.5 in la sportiva and most things, but 5.10 i wear a 10.0, and I see they don't do half sizes. Should I size up or down?

Asked by: OutdoorsNut97
It may be a matter of personal preference based on where your arch lands, but most people size down if they are in half sizes in Chaco sandals.
