Smart & highly capable travel bag

This was the only bag used on a week trip abroad. I reviewed countless bags to try to find the best one to fit a minimalist items list. This one was pretty new, so no reviews were out at the time. We found it in REI and were sold on all the smart features PacSafe is known for (anti-theft zippers, locking straps). However, the best feature about this pack is how it loads. Unlike most backpacks, that get more "turtle like" the more you pack into them, this bag is more like a backpacking bag, in that it never gets wider than the frame. The weight is evenly dispersed down your back, so it is much easier to carry for long periods of time and on hikes. It also keeps you from bumping into people with your bag in crowded areas, as it is firmly on your back, giving you a slim profile. This is the best travel bag I've ever come across, and will be taking it on many more trips in the future.

Poor quality control, cheap details

Was comparing 25 to 35 liter packs and this was on the short list to check out in-store. In addition to being underwhelmed overall due to things like mediocre organizing features compared to other brands, there were specific issues with details such as poor stitching/alignment with the seams along the zipper causing jamming plus really bad cost-cutting decisions like the cheap velcro strips for holding a water reservoir. And although the 25L Venturesafe has better details like wire zipper pulls, the impression is still not a premium travel product.

Pacsafe for work / leasure

I don’t “extreme” anything or count oz’s, I prefer hotels and WiFi, but I do travel a lot. That being said - this bag has been a game changer. It’s modest and sleek. Fashionable and highly functional. I pack a rain jacket, scarf, cap, gloves, laptop and large DSLr. The knick knacks all fit comfortably as well (passport / chargers / hand santitzer etc) nothing on this bag feels cheap. Zippers and straps are top notch. Easy rain slick pulls over in seconds if needed. It could use a little extra protection in the lower corners for the laptop, but I don’t plan on slamming the bag around so not worried. I have a really nice Tumi for sale if anyone is interested.

Last min purchase

After all the Picpocket scares from other travelers I picked this up right before we left Seattle for Italy at our local REI I thought the price a bit high for a bag with a couple extra zipper locks, but felt it a better security than other smal backpacks I already own. Well week 3 and this little bag has earned its keep! Love the water bottle holder/locking zippers ect, however in general the organization poaches and compartments and little zipper pockets in and outside of this bag has made it quite the little travel companion. Surprisingly happy with the purchase.

Best lightweight travel pack

Bought this pack for a 3 month trip around Europe. Great size for my laptop, travel docs, and a change of clothes. Even had room to spare for small gifts for the people back home. The anti-theft features were put to the test when I almost got pickpocketed twice. Pack zippers and locks did their job. Side note, the main compartment holds 3, 1 liter bottles of scotch perfectly. All in all, love the pack. Use it daily now.

Very secure day pack

The security and anti-theft features on the bag are amazing. I am going to feel peace of mind knowing my gear will be kept safe, even if I want to leave my bag at a cafe table while I head to the restroom - the locking clip feature is so useful. It's not a minimalist pack. All of the security features create a somewhat bulky bag that feels sturdy, but is a far cry from the flimsy, lightweight day packs I'm used to. It's a trade off I chose for securing my gear, as we will be traveling across the globe next year and I want to be prepared for anything.

Everything Fits! and it's divided logically

I bought this for travel - and it was great on it's first trip and I've been using it a lot at home too - when I got to offsite meetings where I want my laptop and other materials. It's large, with a large main compartment, as well as lots of smaller zip compartments so it's easy to separate things by category and use this as a kind of traveling office. It's big enough that it could be your only luggage for a short trip and/or if you commute to work taking a bunch of stuff with you. I really love this thing. Being black, it's just professional enought (I'm a huge fan of my very lightweight northface but its a bit ratty looking). I LOVE the stowable hip belt, which I use for travel/walking through airports, communing on train with computer and books in the pack. Also it holds either two water bottles or a water bottle and a travel cup and because the mesh sleeves have an additional strap you can secure the water bottle in there...It's a winner!

Perfect Travel Backpack

I purchased this backpack for a two week trip to Costa Rica with my husband and it was excellent for our needs. Having been there before, we weren't worried about aggressive theft, but it was nice to be able to secure the pack to a tree or piece of driftwood while at the beach. It has enough deterrents that opportunist thieves wouldn't have had much of a chance to snatch and run under our watchful eyes. I also carried it on a humid, 90 degree eight hour hike with a full 3L reservoir and was surprised at how lightweight it felt. We debated getting more of a true daypack due to this hike, but I'm glad we went with this backpack. While it's definitely pricey, it ended up being a perfect purchase for comfort and a spacious travel pack to keep our sensitive documents.

Excellent every-day/travel bag.

I didn't buy this bag for its security features but got them as an added bonus. I was looking for an every-day bag to carry to work and for use on infrequent travel (urban hiking). This has most of the features I look for in a hiking pack but in a sleeker form that doesn't scream OUTDOORSMAN when you're on a train, bus, or walking to-and-from the office. At 30L, this is a good choice for a daypack. It can hold a substantial amount (daily, I carry at least a laptop, electronics essentials, a change of clothing, and more) but has enough structure to not look incredibly deformed when overloaded or saggy when near empty. I like that is has an aluminum stay to better fit the back and transfer load. It also has a slim profile - a feature I quite like after coming from wider courier-style messenger and cycling packs. Although I don't use it very often, the padded, stowable hipbelt is much appreciated. I think Pacsafe missed an opportunity, here, to add a bit of zippered mesh pockets to the hipbelt. Overall, the construction appears to be quite well-made and durable even though the material is quite light. One thing to note, is that the top-loading main compartment open away from the back. I thought this was unusual and took me some getting used to. I suspect that it may have been designed this way so that the compartment was more resistant to unwanted access while being worn and walking about. I can find no real cons with the backpack for my personal use. I do wish that the webbing connecting the backpack straps to the lower body of the backpack were black instead of silverish. I also wish that straps had some sort of nylon webbing, PALS webbing, or daisy chain to attach a couple of small pouches to. (for my phone, or a small flashlight). Excellent purchase and I would do so again as long as this product proves to be durable in the long-run.

Great for travel to pickpocket areas

I bought this backpack in anticipation of traveling to Italy for work. I had planned on using it to carry my laptop to/from locations and wanted to make sure things were safe as I traveled on trains/metro/busy areas. I liked that this pack had flexibility to not only use the locking system for the zippers on the two large compartments, but would also allow for me to use a small lock on these zippers. I typically kept a small lock on the biggest compartment, storing my laptop and passport in this area with extra protection. For the other lockable compartment on the front, I typically put materials which would not be devastating if stolen and use the locking zippers. Accessing these areas took a bit longer, so it was unlikely to happen on a train or in passing from a pickpocket. The two compartments without locking zippers were convenient for quick-access things. It wasn't until I was halfway through my trip that I found the rain fly (bottom of bag in a little pouch) but I did not test this out. I would recommend this bag if you like to be on the safe side. It is pricey, but I didn't worry when walking through squares, onto the metro, etc that the items in my bag would be quickly swiped by a pickpocket.

Works for Me!

Bought this because as a petite person it was one of the few in-store that Ryan was able to fit me with. The safety features are comforting when walking in the tenderloin and riding BART. The big plus is it will hold my floor length down coat with room to spare. It has a surpring amount of storage room. Still no sure how someone carrys a backback and not a purse too, but I am learning to deal with that inconvenience. Water resistant, safety theft proof designs and amazing storage capacity ... all in a comfortable backback and it fits my 5'2" frame.
