Nice & lite backpacking pad

I do a bake-off every few years to replace my pad with the latest & greatest. I pit this pad against the following three below. Considerations were R-factor, comfort, weight, ease-of-use, and packed form-factor. All of the pads tested were approximately the same L/W of 72 x 20. -Thermarest Evolite -Klymit Static-V lite -Exped Synmat UL 7M In the end the Vector20R won out as a better all-around pad for me. Some factors: PROS -Integrated pump makes inflation a breeze while significantly reducing moisture build-up -Alternate 3/4in inflation/adjustment valve and wide 1.5in deflation valve -Quiet (especially compared to NeoAir) foil thermal reflective barrier adds an est. 5-10F -Unique baffle construction feels very stable, and also allows for a certain amount of side-side articulation -Weight: very light for a pump-integrated pad with these features -Insulating value: whilst Nemo stubbornly refuse to adopt the standard R-value rating, they claim insulation down to 25F. I was warm at 33F, but have not tried this yet in sub-freezing temps CONS -Not the lightest pad in the mix; that goes to the Exped -While better than a NeoAir, this pad still lacks raised side rails to prevent roll-offs -The 20D construction *might* be a concern for those who sleep rough. If you take care of your gear adn sleep in a tent 20D should be ok *What about the other pads? The Exped was the closest call because of comfort, weight and side rails. The reasons it came in 2nd were: -Proprietary inflation valve requires a proprietary inflator - one of Exped's accessory foot pumps or $hnozzel bags -Baffle delimitation risk: I had a previous Exped UL mat lose a baffle seam after only two uses. The result was a giant longitudinal baffle running down the center of the pad. This was akin to sleeping with a telephone pole The Klymit Static V-lite was 3rd place, and may have lost the battle only because as a side sleeper I felt my hip bone was at far more risk of contact than any of the other pads, even at what I considered max inflation. Otherwise this was an excellent pad, and the only one of this weight class with extra width (23in vs 20)

I bought one and had to return it due to development of an unexpected bulge in the foot pump. This happened only after inflating the pad and letting it sit overnight as to check to make sure the pad did not have any leaks prior to going out on a trip. I returned the pad, exchanged it for a new pad in the same model. The pad worked great for about 10 nights until it developed a pin-sized leak near one of the inner seams on top of the pad. I am very careful when it comes to my camping gear and this is the first time I have ever had a leak in a sleeping pad. Thankfully, REI accepted the return even with the patch that I had to apply to the leak. On a positive note, the pad was very comfortable while it lasted. Overall, I can't recommend this product to anyone.

I feel like I’m cheating

Camping shouldn’t be this comfortable. This pad is lightweight, quick to pack up with a large outlet for air to escape, and I feel like I’m showing off when I inflate my pad with its foot-powered inflation next to someone else about to hyperventilate with theirs. I toss and turn, this is great for side-sleeping, I never feel the ground. I use it with a big Agnes sleeping bag that has minimal ground insulation that slips around the pad, so an insulated pad is a must, I’ve used this in wet Alaskan climate with temps as low as 20 degrees F and have never felt ground chill. I’ve sold a couple friends on this pad in the year I’ve had it. I feel like I’m cheating at camping!

Defective product!

Good thing I always test before going out in the wild. I inflated the Vector 25l in my living room and took an hour nap on it only to wake up with my butt on the ground. So I checked all the valves again and repeated the process. Same result...would not hold air. I paid almost 260 bucs for this and the luxury pillow. Sending them both back for a refund. I would like to remain a loyal NEMO customer, but cannot justify a simple exchange for a product that never made it out of my living room. I would expect a good company like NEMO to have some sort of quality control before selling anything - at lease a quick test to see if their products hold air!!!

Easy to inflate, super easy to deflate and pack up

Just used on a two night backpacking trip. Slept better than on my previous crinkly mat. Side sleeper. No need to toss and turn to relieve pressure points.

Comfortable and easy to use

So far I've only used this for a few short camping trips. It has served me well so far. My only worries is about it getting a leak. I haven't gotten one yet so that's good. It is really comfortable to sleep on, I like that it's a bit wider and square. I'm a side sleeper and have no issues with hitting the ground through the pad. The setup is simple, just roll it out and start pumping. Packing it down is extremely easy too due to it's oversized dump valve.

Very disappointed from this product!

Hello, I was very happy when I bought my sleeping pad specially for my Aconcagua expedition that was 3 weeks ago (February 2017) but on the fourth night I found my self on the ground - the sleeping pad deflated :( I am very disappointed to see I paid $197 (with delivery) and used it for just 4 nights. I tried to find out how can I repair the sleeping pad with patches included but didn't find any info of how can I find the "place problem" from where the air is going out... didn't find any hole, and tried to listen from where the air is going out - but didn't find. I will appreciate any help of how can I find from where the air is going out - there is no any hole! Thank You.

not a good product... woke up flat on the ground

as the title indicates. After trying to repair numerous (non-visible / micro) leaks. I gave up with this product. I took a white water rafting trip through the grand canyon and 14 nights of camping I was resorted to sleeping on the ground. Each night I would try to patch more micro leaks (after finding them with soap and water) and there was no end to the number of micro repairs i had to make. I'll be sorting a refund for this product as you don't pay $149 (plus shipping) to sleep on the floor. Should they not refund me I'll gladly call my credit card and create a charge back.

First impression

I went to REI pretty sure that this was the sleeping pad I wanted for backpacking but needed to get my hands on one to be sure. Admittedly, I am a fan of Nemo products and went in wanting to love this sleeping pad. Among others, tried out the less expensive but very similar Nemo Tensor. It's 4oz lighter and does not have a built in pump but had the same build. I figured it would be worth blowing it up myself to save the $30 so I deflated the demo pad, which took forever. There's only one small valve for both inflate and deflate, and after about 10 breathes and not being close to being inflated, I knew I'd wish I'd spent the $30 more for the Vector every time I used it. Aside from color, weight, cash and of course the pump, they seemed identical. The Vector is only 1lb 8.5oz and packs surprisingly small for an insulated pad. The light 20D fabric is the only concern I have, though it feels every bit as sturdy as other similar pads. It's going take a season of backpacking to determine durability, but so far I'm very happy with my choice.

Premium cost, premium comfort

I will preface this review by stating that I have yet to use this on the trail. I'll update my review when I have. That being said: holy crud, I love this stupid thing. It's expensive - as are most things Nemo - but they just make great stuff and this pad is no exception. I inflated one of these (I bought two) for the first time in my house, then laid down for a second just to test it. I woke up from my nap 20 minutes later. That's not hyperbole, that just happend. It's just as comfortable on my side, stomach, or back. And it really is very quiet and comfy, even without a cover of any sort. It does take a few more pumps to inflate than I thought. Reading other reviews, I thought it was going to be something like 15 or 20 pumps. It's more like 70, but it's really not bad. You can push down on the pump just about as quickly as your heart desires, so the whole process takes about a minute. I'm really glad I got the vector instead of the tensor in that regard - totally worth a few extra ounces. I'm a little concerned about durability given the 20D material, but I have a plan to protect it and I'll come back with pictures when I have used it on a multi-day hike with my planned system.
