Seems to work pretty well - so far
I ride a trail that has a lot of goat head thorns. I flatted right away the first time I rode with ordinary tubes. My mountain bike friends said I should go tubeless, but using these self-sealing tubes seemed like an easier and less messy solution. So far, so good. I picked up 4 thorns on my last ride, two of which made big penetrations in the tire and tube. When I pulled out the thorns at the end of the ride, air came rushing out along with some green slime and some greasy fluid. The air came out for 20-30 seconds before it stopped up with little pressure left in the tire - but not totally flat. I didn't try, but I'm pretty sure I couldn't have ridden on it without more air. However, I waited until the next day and re-inflated the tire. The seal appears to be holding several days later. I can't say how long this will last, but I'm satisfied so far.

Don’t buy, REI has better options for similar cost
I wouldn’t recommend in New Mexico. Had some serious issues with repeat flats while on the trail from goatheads. The slime just doesn’t work well with the conditions in this area.

Works well on GoatHeads

My Son rides his bike to school a lot and has a knack for finding Goat Heads. After a few weeks of patching and re patching tubes, I picked these up. So far no flats Good: They seem to work as advertised Bad: They are heavier then a normal tube,

Awesome as always!

Riding in Chatsworth hills and simi hills you know how prone you are to minor pinch flats and thorn flats. I've had some of these tubes last 2 years. Regular tubes barely last 1 ride. I wont buy anything else for any of my MTBs or my friends MTBs.

If you run thin tires, consider this!

Having a tubeless ready rim is ideal, but when the ideal isnt what your experiancing and the punctures keep adding up, this tube is a very handy option to have in your trouble shooting aparatus. I got stuck on a trail after a new set of tires were installed on my gravel bike. There were enough punctures to consume a whole patch kit for both wheels, and I had the luck of having this tube as my spare that day. After replacing it and clearing the tire of debris, I was able to limp back to town, nursing the front wheel every few miles to get back safely. Now most people would get rid of the tires, but here I found a saving grace in a slime tube. I am still on the tires and run slimes in both wheels and haven't had any issues since then! If you have a fussy setup, this might be a solution less thought of!

Makes riding more fun

Had these tubes for years, riding my MTB up & down the trails, had few punctures & the slime did what it supposed to do it plug the holes soon I removed the poking objects, still haven’t change tubes. Sometimes i see riders on the roadsides fixing their flat tires such a big hassle.

Great for commuting!

I use Slime tubes for my commuter bikes. So much trash, broken glass and car parts on the city streets. Yep,their heavy. But I don't use them in my race/road bikes.

So far so good

Bought this tube a few weeks ago. Easy to install. Have done numerous desert trail rides. No flats yet.

Look before you leap!

The SLIME self-sealing inner tubes were bought with the hope they would eliminate long walks home due to a flat tire. At my local bike shop the manager said the Presta valve stems were unsuitable for my use. I intend to return them for refund and buy Shraider valve stem tubes and apply the SLIME product.

You want this Puncture Protect

Product provides excellent ‘FLAT TIRE INSURANCE’ - which is to say - if you out riding and get a puncture you likely won’t even know because the tire will seal itself. You want this - the Price at REI is the best I’ve found and, unlike elsewhere, the REI bike maintenance team does a first rate install for FREE.
