Nice bright, little lantern
Compact, bright, uses AA batteries, it stands, it hangs, it dims. I wanted a backup lantern when we are car camping to use instead of a coleman propane lantern. Something that was bright enough at a camp table to cook, play cards, read, etc. This little lantern does the job.

Original Battery Corroded
I used this light a only few times but after a few months I found that the original battery had corroded. I cleaned the damage out as much as possible but since then it has stopped working completely. I’d say this is user error but the only other person I know that has this had the same thing happen to them.

Tons of light

I compared multiple LED lanterns and once I got this home and in the dark...I was very impressed with the amount of light it produces. Collapsed, it is a little bigger than a candle lantern and it is slightly heavier but given the overall amount of light and long burn time -- well worth the weight trade-off. This lantern light easily covers the camp-sight, it hangs well within the tent, works great sitting around camp when a fire is not an option. Simple on/off switch is protected when collapsed so it will not accidentally turn-on in your pack. Dimming function is easy to operate. Overall --- A little heavy but very well worth it!

Scout Saver

We chose this lamp for its brightness and versatility, and we were not disappointed. This lamp was on the picnic table where scouts were doing work on their merit badges in the evening, and then we hung it up from the ceiling in the screen house after that. The hook at the top is two halves that overlap in the middle, making it easy to use existing tabs on tents to hang it, and also to thread cord through it and hang it from trees. No s-hook necessary. The height of the lantern makes it easy to share light, and it packs away small. Love this lantern!

Perfect light

Have had this for 5 years. Well designed, very compact unit as the product collapses, thus protecting it and keeping the buttons from accidentally being depressed. The hanging hook is genius. It separates allowing you to hang it inside a tent without a D ring or clip. It recently took a spill and the bulb likely shorted. Black Diamond sent me a new one. Everyone in my family reaches for this first versus their headlamps, flashlights and every other light source we camp with.

Great Light

I bought this mostly for car camping and it was absolutely great. I little heavy and large to use for backpacking though. Light up the whole site and was great for cooking on the fire at night, reliable and water resistant and a heck of a lot smaller than the propane lantern. These days I'm trying to use less space and less weight and this worked perfectly.

Like new after four years

I bought this lantern four years ago, and it still functions great. It provides substantial light for such a small, lightweight item. The dimming function and the display for battery power are helpful, and it never gets hot to the touch. In addition to camping, I loaned this lantern to a neighbor during a power outage and it let up an entire studio apartment. I expect the lantern will last for years to come.

good light but loud noise

Bought this for lighting up my tent. As far as that goes it worked well but if the lantern was not on high, you could hear a high pitch hum. It would get louder as you lowered the light level and while the lantern was at it lowest setting, it was just to loud to ignore. I returned this for that reason.

Just fantastic

This little powerhouse is amazing, lasts for days and is really bright. The legs and hooks make it even easier to use. I looked around for ages for a replacement for a gas lamp and this really makes the grade. I use rechargeable batteries in the AA holder rather then the pack/charge combo and am happy with that choice.

Black Diamond has great customer service, also!

I've owned several Apollo series lanterns over the years, and all have worked liked they were supposed to. Except one that conked out after 1.5 years. Contacted Black Diamond and they immediately sent me a replacement. Fantastic product backed by top notch service which makes me a loyal customer for life.
