Looks great, loosens, wish sole was “more”

I love the rainbow stretch at the ankle and the stitching. I love the durable leather. The boot is beautiful and all business at the same time. The fit loosens quite a bit after the first 2 weeks as things stretch out which is not great news, given it can mean blisters. An added foot bed would solve it. At 200$, I wish the sole was more durable w/ deeper tread. I’m feeling like I’m going to wear through them within a year, which is a bummer at this price, and because they look so great! The beautiful boot will out live the sole. I’ll need to look into whether I can get this re-soled. I’ve only ever done that to boots with Norwegian welts. Fingers crossed.

Excellent! But narrow feet beware

I love this boot! VALUE: I got them on sale here for $101. They are worth it at that price. However, at full price ($190) I would say there are better boots out there that can be resolved when needed, which this one cannot. SIZING: I usually wear size US11/AU10, but I have a narrow foot and sometimes size down, especially in Chelsea boots. I do not recommend sizing down in these, regardless of foot width. I tried on a US11, US10, and US10.5 in the store. The 10 and 10.5 were too short, and it turns out Blundstone half sizes are not any longer than whole sizes, only wider. The US11 fit me perfectly in length, but was too wide and had too much space in the toe box, not just in width but also vertical volume too. BUT, the insoles that ship with the boot are very thin and not very sculpted to begin with, so I simply added a gel insole on top of the included insole (even though it is removable), which took in the excess space and width. Now they work perfectly! Even wide feet will probably want to substitute the original insole, as it is very thin. STYLE: The dark olive suede is a great color, and is weather resistant but not waterproof. There is a variation to the color and texture that is uniform across the toe cap on both boots out of the box that seems like they may be treated with some weather resistant material. It is not noticeable from a distance, but fairly obvious if you look closely. I use them as an easy slip on boot to let my dog out in the snow. I've had them three days, and have already had many compliments!

OK boot, but the "Classic" is a better option

Blundstone is a good brand with a long history. Their models are very confusing with "Original" and "Classic" that looks almost alike on the outside, but different on the inside. Just remember, "Original" equals NOT lined inside and "Classic" has inside leather/fabric linings. The Classic costs $20 more, but is easier to put on because of the lining. It may also be slightly more comfortable because your toes are not rubbing against the rough leather inside. Reading the specifications, it is unclear whether the sole is longer wearing on the "Classic". Some Youtubers said that the "Classic" leather upper is better dyed, but I don't know enough to confirm or deny their claim. Just get the "Classic" for the lining alone.

Comfortable, durable, classic

Second pair of Blundstone boots. They take a bit of work and wear to soften the leather, especially around the leg opening. Thereafter these boots are easy to wear all day long at work, travel, or dining out. My first pair is suede, worn now for four years. I got the brown pair for less demanding environments, mostly for wet weather situations. I recommend adding your own choice of insole as the original isn’t much… The generous toe box is a huge bonus. I have wide (D to E width) feet. The boot accommodates my wide, thick foot comfortably. My insoles add a bit more cushioning. Result is a custom-feeling boot that goes anywhere.

Best in its class

I had an old pair of 519s, and I never really bonded with them, so they were relegated to yard work until I cracked the sole. Then, I purchase a pair of the discontinued model 1314 and wore them until the soles were thin, resoled them, and wore those soles out. I bought a pair of Redbacks thinking they would be better than my original 519s, but I couldn't get the fit right. I decided to just go for it on these new 519s, and I'm glad I did. They've broken in nicely, and are basically the only shoes (aside from running shoes when...running) I wear everyday. I work in them, play in them, wear them to the cabin. They're great. The pull-on feature is a must for me.

These boots were made for walkin'

I was a little bummed that these were not shipped with two seperate sets of insoles as they do when shipped directly from Blundstone. Oh well. Those with narrow feet may need the second pair. Also worth noting is the half sizes are typically wider than they are longer. (Those crazy Aussies). Keep that in mind when choosing a size. You may be better off with the next full size up and adding insoles. Not the Australian made boot it once was but still good construction. My new 500's feel a little less supportive than I remember but they're still a good boot. I love blundstone 500 for they're simple design and versatility. They can be dressed up or down. Doesn't take them long to break in and turn into your favorite slip on boot. They're designed to be roomy so I suggest reading up on their fit and size accordingly.

OK, but not great

My old pair of Rossi boots (my third pair) were on their last legs. Never having tried Blundstone's 500 i thought i'd give them a try. I have wide-ish feet so I ordered half a size up. Still a bit tight. I sum, I am a bit disappointed. As work boots they don't measure up to my old pair. They are now made in Viet Nam rather than Oz, so perhaps it's a matter of QC. The leather is rather thin and the ankle pull tab is cloth, not leather. They are quite light, too. I have the impression that these are fashion boots rather than for work. Perhaps I should have ordered a different style but the descriptions didn't seem particularly different. Oh well...

They run big.

These boots run big. (All size references US.) I wear an 11 in every make and model of boot, dress shoe, and running shoe except for Cole-Haan, which I wear a 10 1/12. I wear a 10 in this boot. Also, half-sizes were available in the store but not online. If you have never worn a pair of these before, I'd recommend trying them on in the store if at all possible.

Surprised they fit my wide feet

I have never even tried on a pair as they aren’t offers in widths but saw a pair on the shelf and did. I was pleasantly surprised that they fit well! They were just a bit snug but knew they would quickly form to my feet, which they did. I normally wear a 13 EE but the Australian 12’s did the trick. (I don’t think they come in a 12.5 which would have been comparable to 13 wide.) I pulled the trigger and am so glad I did. I wore them 11 days in a row averaging 13000 steps on hard flooring and asphalt. They are extremely comfortable and show absolutely no wear at all. Like brand new still. Now they call to my feet....put me on! And because of the comfort and that they are so easy to take on and off I tend to reach for them daily. (Great for a recent flight) They are close to zero lift, or so it seems, and I like how that feels. Putting my old leather lace up boots felt like I was wearing high heeled cowboy boots. They performed well in the recent foot of snow and slush to boot. All in all these are a great boot and I am struggling to find a reason or want to wear anything else. My only regret is I didn’t try them on years ago.
