Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feels Great I've been looking for a good jacket for a while and have done a lot of comparison shopping. I finally decided on an ultralight 850 down sweater fromm LL Bean but I wanted to check out the Rei store in my city and immediately went to the clearance rack and saw this stylish super light jacket well made and slipped on like silk slippers. I'm 5'11 and 190 so I tried on a large. I looked like a super model in it but I prefer a little more room so I bought a XL. Very happy with the purchase and feel like I can go on a hike, ski or out to the movies with my better half. She still thinks I'm a super model in the XL as an added bonus. Only drawback, hand pockets are not insulated.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly warm for how light it is I never write reviews but had to for this. It showed up and I was surprised by how light it was. I wore it around Los Angeles for a couple of our "cold" 60 degree days, and was just comfortable. I thought "there is no way this thing will be warm in actual cold weather". But then I took it to Mammoth and wore it in 16 degree weather. This jacket combined with a medium weight smartwool base layer was totally warm and comfortable walking around in 16 degrees! Seriously awesome piece of clothing totally worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Warm, lightweight, and well designed I bought this jacket to replace a Kuhl Revolt I lost on a train in Germany. I was impressed enough with the revolt to know that I wanted another jacket by the same manufacturer. As much as I loved the Revolt, it really doesn't hold a candle to the quality and design of this jacket. The jacket is close fitting, super lightweight, comfortable, very warm, and moves with the wearer. Every aspect of it is well designed. I'm glad I had an excuse to buy it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good jacket but have some concerns I have not had this jacket for very long, but I got it at a very good price at it has served my needs thus far. It doesn't fit into its own pocket but can compress down into a 3 Liter stuff sack. It is warm for its weight but not suffocating. It also fits superbly and is quite stylish. However, I am a little concerned about some of the threading that has been coming undone from the seams. If this becomes more of an issue I may have to contact Kuhl. Also, the pockets aren't insulated so gloves are a must.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Jacket First jacket I've ever bought over $100. Guess I went all out, but I'm glad I did. This jacket is lightweight, attractive design, slim fit and makes you feel like you're standing inside an active volcano. I'd recommend this in a heart beat. If you can stomach the price tag, its well worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from stylish versatile excellence from 32 to 72 degrees This is a rare form fitting down jacket that can be worn casually and for performance. It can be worn at room temperature at the office unzipped to keep you cozy but not hot. Down does not keep you warm by insulating you with a heavy layer, but rather by trapping in your body heat. This said, worn over a button-down cotton shirt, I can step out of the office and this jacket keeps me warm into the 30's while I'm walking and generating body heat. If I'm standing still like waiting in-line outdoors in the cold, then I get chilly. However, although the jacket is form fitting, it is also slightly stretchy where a lightweight fleece vest can be worn as a layer underneath to keep your core warm when idle and when below 32. The hood is invaluable. The hand pockets do not provide warmth, but there is an inner pocket where you can store gloves. I have not taken it out for a cold weather adventure yet, but I believe a base layer, a light fleece vest, this jacket, and a hardshell would provide me the temperature regulation I need for the varying conditions. I steer clear of buying gear and clothing unless on discount, but I believe this jacket is worth its full retail price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another Kuhl product purchase I've been looking for a light down jacket for quite some time, but never found anything that stood out as being a little different from what everyone else had. I returned an item to the REI store and took a quick walk around while I was there. I'm so glad I did. This hoodie immediately caught my attention. I stuck my hand up the sleeve and instantly noticed it starting to retain the heat. I'm 5'7, 185 lbs with a stocky athletic build. A medium looked great, but I was only wearing a t-shirt. I bought a large so I could wear a sweater under it. It still has a form fitting look while being forgiving with a bit of stretch for movement if that makes sense. I wore the jacket today (February in Michigan) and was impressed with it's warmth and can attest to it definitely being windproof. The hood is awesome as well. It fits perfect when wearing and doesn't feel out of place when not. I love this jacket and would recommend it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good I use it for hiking in cool to cold conditions (10-40 deg F) Not bulky at all, very lightweight. Keeps me nice and warm, and the hood is useful for when you take hiking breaks and need just a little warmth when stopping. Has good amount of pockets. The down layer in on the inside of the front handwarmer pockets, which means your hands aren't super warm in there, however, it also means opening the pockets and letting in cold air doesn't freeze your stomach like it would if the down was on the outside layer. My only wish is that it folded up into its own pockets, as some similar jackets do. This comes with a small bag you can stuff it in, but that means one more thing to carry around and possibly lose.
