Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect "Fire Bag" I needed one bag that I could fit all my fire gear in and keep it under the airline's checked bag luggage limit of 50 lbs. After several years of looking and trying out less than ideal packing options, I discovered Osprey's Shuttle last spring. Its low weight allows me to pack into one bag my camping gear, line gear (even my heavy boots) and other necessities for a two or three week assignment without tipping the scales above 50 lbs. Add that to its vast main compartment and cleverly designed pockets and I have found my MOST favorite travel bag. AND it rolls over bumpy fields effortlessly. Love the red color - its easy to find at baggage claim. This is a well designed, light weight yet durable travel bag. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It fits on a plane It fits just fine as a checked bag. I have flown international with this bag no issues. Since it is a rolling duffel, it will expand further than a hard side suitcase (shock and surprise to those with a tape measure). The straps are able to cross over the top as shown in the picture, but also able to clip into a second buckle further back on the side. This allows it to really compress down. The main compartment is vast, and has the nice feature of a separate "compartment". That is, if you pack the entire bag full of clean clothes, as you live out of the bag, you can move the dirty clothes to the lower portion, dividing the clean and dirty clothes. This second "compartment" is not rigid inside, so when not used it folds away, but can also be accessed separately. The wheels are nice when going over rougher surfaces, such as old roads, cobble stone, up and down curbs, etc. There is a smaller pocket on the top by the extending handle which is nice for often used small items. I am very pleased with the bag, and never once did any airline give me any issues with the size. Be warned that it is surprisingly larger than imagined yet still light itself, so packing too much and going over on weight could be an issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for adventure travel I've used this for a couple of trips now, one in the USA and one overseas. I've had no issues with checked baggage, my packed weight is less than 50 lbs. It has more than enough room for a week's worth of luggage, and is possibly too big for what I need. Plenty of extra room for carrying souvenirs home! I am happy with this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy, plenty of room, easy to travel with This duffel has enough room to pack for two adults and one toddler for a long weekend trip (kid stuff takes up about half the space). I had no issue with checking it for flying. Large wheels roll smoothly and lots of handles make handling it convenient.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Seems like a winner I purchased this bag for me to use once and again on longer business trips and to be the primary bag for my wife for vacations. The quality of the stitching and material is outstanding. The wheels will allow for easy movement on a variety of surfaces. It's been a while since I've had a bag with an extra storage area for the smelly training clothes and shoes; that's nice. I am heading to Germany in a few weeks and will update update the rating with more information.

On the 100 liter version, how high is the the smaller collapsible compartment?  Can one really put in one pair on downhill ski boots?  What smaller compartments exist off the large one - sides, inside u-lid, etc?  How far does the carrying handle extend?

Asked by: Captain Bly
The large collapsible lower compartment on the Shuttle Wheeled Duffel 100L is able to accommodate 1 pair of downhill ski boots. In addition to that compartment there is a top zippered compartment for small items, a rear panel pocket for tablets or magazines and a large zippered rear panel pocket behind. There are 5 internal zippered mesh pockets in the various compartments and an ID sleeve. The carrying handle extends 12 inches, which puts it 38.5 inches above the ground.

Re the pull handle extension; does it have only one length or does it stop at least at more than one other height?

Asked by: caly
The handle on this duffel only has one adjustment point.
