Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect sit-in kayak for the recreational paddler! I bought this as my first kayak without trying it and I am not disappointed! I had tried several other brands from sit ins to sit on tops. This boat is stable, tracks well, easy to turn, handle choppy water with ease as well as class 1 and 2 rivers. It's a super fun boat with lots of storage. I love the roomy dry hatch in the stern and the one information of the cockpit for my keys and other valuables. I also like the ease of getting in and out of this boat. The cockpit is also roomy enough to take my legs out and put my feet up on the bow to relax. The seat is super comfy and also provides great back support and is wide enough to accommodate a woman's curvy hips comfortably (which is a problem with several other boats.) I am extremely pleased with this boat and you really can't go wrong with the Dirigo!

Adjustable Knee Pads?  Knee Pads at all?  None of the Old Town's are showing drain they have them?  Thanks!!

Asked by: Bodhi's Mum
The Dirigo 106 Kayak does have pads where your knees contact the inside of the hull under the cockpit rim. They are not adjustable. This boat also features a drainplug on the right side of the top deck, just aft of the cockpit opening.

Which would be easier for me to carry when portaging, the Old Town Dirigo or the Old Town Vapor. I'm 59 years old, but still active.

Asked by: johnnygirl
The Dirigo 106 Kayak is the better option for portaging. It has better carry handles and is lighter in weight.
