I bit the bullet and bought these full price before a big trip and have never been so glad! The pants were great for backpacking and hanging out around camp. They fit well enough to be cute(ish) but loose-fitting enough that I could comfortably fit a pair of thermals or leggings underneath for cold mornings and nights. They're a little long when I'm not wearing hiking boots (I'm 5'2" so that's not unusual) so I typically roll them up a little and they're perfect. I've only hiked/lounged in them so far but based on how they feel, I think they'll be my go-to climbing pants come fall as well. Overall, I love these pants and highly recommend them!
I don't like 100% synthetic fabrics, so have been looking for cotton or cotton blend hiking pants that are light-weight and sturdy. These fit the bill perfectly. They are comfortable and breathable but also tough. They are light enough for long-distance hiking, but sturdy enough for rock climbing. They have a little stretch that helps with rock climbing, also. I usually wear a 8/10 (although what do women's sizes even mean? Every brand fits differently) and got these in an 8 and they fit great. The elastic that holds the button when you roll the pants up is a little bit annoying to use, but not a dealbreaker.
I purchased these for a backpacking trip on Memorial day weekend. They are my first pair of quick-drying "outdoorsy" pants. They. Are. Awesome. I tired them on the night before the hike to make sure they fit, and they were a tiny bit snug. By the time I was on the trail, they had "broken in" and were perfect - they didn't fall down, and they weren't too tight It was simple to trek the 10+ miles we did in these easy breathing pants. I even fell into a stream chasing after some of our beers and the pants dried very fast while I was wearing them. I wear these on all of my outdoor adventures now, and highly recommend them.
I am 5'9", 170, pear shaped, always buy tall Pockets:Hip pockets are deep enough for iphone6, but buttons require two hands open. Items in pockets would show, even chapstick. Back pockets are articulated, so items would show as much, but not secure - phone would fall out. 2/5 Inseam: Waaaaay too short. Need at least 3 more inches. 0/5 Waistband: Holds up ok. No gap, no crack. 5/5 Material: not too thin - doesn't show every dimple in my thighs. Not quite stretching enough for every type of outdoor work. Probably would be uncomfortable when sweating and crouching. 3/5 They are comfy and true to size. I bought a 14, should have got a 12, my regular size. I think a better fit would be pretty flattering. 4/5
I bought a pair of these pants in blue size 4 (or so they were labeled) at my local REI and loved them as soon as I tried them on. I saw that the khaki were available and on sale so I ordered a pair in size 4 online as well. I just received them in the mail today, and when I tried tried them they seemed quite a bit bigger then my first pair. I looked at the size tags located in the back center of both pairs of pants and both say size 4, but when I looked at the fabric content/cleaning instruction tags in each the new pair says XS (4), where my first pair says XXS (2). Looks like my first pair was labeled a size 4 incorrectly? Just something to be aware of if ordering online.
I bought a pair of these in store in the dark steel color during the summer, I loved them so much that when I saw them on sale I purchased another pair in the urban army color. The major thing I noticed is that the sizes are definitely different based upon the color that you chose and the leg lengths are variable. I now own two pairs of each color, I had to get a size 8 in dark steel and a size 10 in the urban army. Therefore I would recommend purchasing in store if you can, especially if you are a bit taller than average. All around, they are flexible and extremely comfortable for every day wear as well as hiking.
I've been looking high and low for a lightweight, roll-up pant I can wear hiking, on airplanes, bumming around at the race track, sitting around a fire. These are the first I've found that aren't flared out at the bottoms and roll up neatly! The pockets sit flat so they don't add unnecessary width to your hips. Ladies - you know what I mean. I'm 5'2" and I have a booty. The 6 Petite fits me perfectly and they look great! I also love that the buttons are attached by tiny elastic loop instead of fabric tabs. Wish there were more colors!
At 5'6", 155, with hips, and the size 12 fit well. The length was perfect. The rise fell below my belly button. The waist band was on the wider side, and had a finished look, so you can get away without a belt. The back pockets were a nice size (any bigger starts to look unsightly) and had some helpful, feminine detail. They are lightweight and the amount of cotton in the blend made the pants feel soft on the skin. The stretch was perfect and allowed the pants to maintain a good shape after bending and squatting. They fit like pants and not like yoga bottoms. I bought these over a year ago for a trip to France. I continue to wear them for all sorts of travel, including hiking and for home errands. These have been a heavily used wardrobe item.
These pants are such a great purchase. I've worn them hiking and in the snow and they have been so comfortable! I bought them one size up so that I could wear a base layer underneath in the snow and colder months. They still fit fine without the layer underneath. I have really large thighs and a small waist so it's really difficult for me to find good pants, but these are great because the waist is a bit lower so it sits on my hips more.
It's usually very hard for me to find pants of any kind that fit well. Enter these particular pants. Love, love, love! I'm 5'8" and about 160. They fit perfectly and are super comfortable. They're loose enough in the legs that I could probably get another layer underneath, but not so loose they flap around and look bulky. Roll them up and you've got a nice little pair of capris. The fabric is very soft but seems pretty durable. I discovered on a two week trip to England that they also dry quickly. You can wear them hiking or touring all day and (unless you roll in a mud puddle) they'll still look good enough to wear out to dinner. These are now my go to outdoor pants!
