Comfortable boots but they don't hold up
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought a new pair to replace the first pair I purchased 2 years ago. The boots are comfortable and somewhat stable on slick surfaces. My first pair shows a lot of wear for periodic non abuse wear. Seams are splitting, which eliminates any idea of waterproof and the toe rubber portion is separating from the shoe. This type of poor wear performance is not typical of Sorel products. But I guess they showed me...I only purchased a second pair because they are not bulky, comfortable and look good!
These boots will probably fall apart
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is my second attampt at trying these boots. As others have mentioned, they're extremely comfortable and they look great. However, as others have also mentioned, the adhesive holding the rubber toe caps to the shoe will fail. This happened on both pairs I owned. My current pair is just under 1 year old and the stitching on both boots has begun to fail, causing the uppers to fall apart. With the abundance of poor reviews pointing out similar design flaws, I'm surprised they still sell these.
Wide, Lightweight, "Waterproof" but not Breathable
I like them so far. They fit my wide feet. Plenty of room for my toes. Seem sturdy for being so lightweight. Perhaps best for rainy weather. I walked through some puddles and my feet stayed dry. Lightly insulated, not breathable, so any sweat build up in cold weather makes for cold feet. For day hikes, I can dry them out at the end of the day. For backpacking, I'd want something "waterproof and breathable" so there'd be less sweat build up freezing in my shoes overnight. I hiked in them straight off without getting blisters. Very flexible material. Don't know how long they'll last.
Glue not holding
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Love the style of these boots and they are extremely soft and comfortable. Great for walking. My only issue is the glue not holding on to the rubber on the front toe box. I only wore these 3x since they are only for rain and snow. I can see the glue is giving way and the rubber is lifting. For well over 100.00 I would expect more. The important part here is that they were worn 3x. Purchased 2018
Not great quality
They were comfortable and waterproof for a few weeks, but the rubber toe caps on both boots started peeling off just a few days ago. Of course, this lets water leak in, and my feet get soggy and cold after a few hours of walking. I saw another reviewer complain about this but believed it was just a fluke. Unfortunately, it wasn't. Luckily I bought from REI, so I'm going to return them when the new pair of (Sorel Paxson) boots I bought gets here. Side note, these also aren't very well insulated, but that wasn't really something that was advertised.
Great Boot...For a While
I've used Sorel Caribou's as my winter boot since I was a kid. Needing a pair of boots I could wear in the Colorado fall and winter months that were still appropriate in an office setting, I was really excited about the Ankeny boot. From the get-go I received a lot of compliments, this is definitely a good looking boot. They lasted the first year with no problems but started to fall apart after that (albeit after moderate use). As many others pointed out, the stitching and construction just doesn't seem to be up to what I thought were Sorel standards. I've replaced these with another brand because I don't trust them to hold up to a second round since so many people have had the exact same problems I did.
Good boot, wide toe area
I was looking for a boot I could wear to work every day in the winter. -- I work in management at a machine shop but I am frequently on the shop floor. You can wear this boot every day, but the "mid" (ankle) cut is a little too high for me to wear on a daily basis. The construction on them is superb and they fit true to size where length is concerned. However, they are slightly narrow in the heel and they are very roomy in the toe box and wide on the bridge of the foot. I would prefer a slightly snugger fit on the bridge and slightly narrower toe, but these are still very comfortable and the rubber toe is incredibly durable.
My One Hope To Get A Girlfriend
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These boots are super good looking and really comfortable this is my second pair of this model and I love them. They keep your feet dry and look really good while doing it. Sorels are a must if you're trying to date girls from the skiing and climbing community and are looking for those that don't live in a van, but in the condo their parents bought them. I'm not part of the upper class, but with a clean pair of Sorels, you can look the part and date girls who are and maybe one day, your future father in law will send you heli-skiing so he can watch you ski lines from his vacation home outside of Jackson hole.
Small toe box height
I have owned a few SORELs in my day and I was excited by this style of boot. I wear a size 15, medium or D width. This shoe fits as I would expect, with the exception of the toe box height. It's low headroom in there, and for whatever reason, my big toes felt too much pressure, especially when the shoe flexed while walking. I've never had a problem of this nature with a shoe before. I can't speak to the durability of the shoe as I returned them for a refund. I had to rate these as poor because of the fit, but that doesn't seem to be a fair rating because they likely fit for the vast majority of people.
Good...but not Sorel
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] First and foremost, I love and believe in Sorel products. This particular boot just didn't live up. Within no time, the rubber top cap separated from the shoe at the sides, which allows water in. So waterproof they are not (at least not for long). Second, due to the quick-lace hooks, they are always coming untied. You have to ties them tight to keep this from happening...and because of needing to pull them through the quick-lace hooks so hard, they break through laces right and left. As far as comfort, they are as good as Sorel usually is...it's just the fine-details that aren't up to par for me.
