[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Light weight and love the stretch. Great for every everyday - especially in FL heat & humidity. I purchased online in Sep 2022 specifically for travel and are now my everyday go to pants. Excellent pants for everyday use, hiking and travel - wrinkles loosen fast and they are great for any season and condition - wind, rain, cold, snow - with layering. They don’t seem to get “soaked” in rain and dry quickly while wearing. I layer with thermal leggings for added warmth for cold and windy conditions and slip on rain/wind pants over them for heavy rains and snow conditions. Perfect without the bulk and were definitely warmer than wearing blue jeans! I am usually a size 10-12 regular length depending on the cut as I prefer a more relaxed fit in seat and legs. I could have gone with a 12 reg for a comfortably snug fit, and thought they would be a bit too uncomfortable for my taste when layered with thermals. So I sized up to 14 - still a tad too big (photos without thermals). I always wear a belt (as with all my pants) to keep from sliding down too much during the day. The front pockets are not very deep and are pretty much useless as any items tends to fall out when sitting, including any bills and coins, let alone any cell phone. I always feel like my phone is going to fall when I am walking and it unfailingly does so when I sit down, so I try to avoid using the front pockets. However, both back pockets comfortably hold my iphone12 with the velcro closure in place so I have no worries about it slipping out when walking or sitting. The zip side pocket is perfectly sized to hold several credit cards, an ID and some cash, without any bulk. It is definitely not meant to hold cell phones. I currently have 2 pairs of these pants and plan to purchase more as I like them so much.
I was pretty satisfied with these comfy pants when I first got them. However, after about a several months of both occasional hiking and regular wear, they're not holding up. One of the seams near the knees has come out. And at the back of the waist, where my backpack rubs, they have pilled very badly. These are very light pants, but unfortunately not a very durable fabric. Given the high price, I expected better than a few months. I also agree with one of the previous reviewers in that the pocket openings are so large and slanted that items easily fall out. It's a shame because really wanted to love these.
I've got some generous hips and thighs, and these pants fit very well. They stretch a bit so I can climb, kneel, & bend without issue. When I bend over they don't pull down in the back that much. They've been covered in mud and wash clean. I don't notice/feel the tabs that hang down to roll up the bottoms, and the zipper pocket on the thigh doesn't bother me. The pocket size could be increased though. I'm 6ft tall & could only find an "average" length - they're just a bit short on me, but everything else fits great, so I don't care. I'm used to pants that are a bit short on me anyway. :)
The front pockets flare out, especially when sitting down – see photos, it's ridiculous. The back pockets have a velcro closure, which makes them hard to access and I'm always worried about catching something on velcro when it's not 100% closed. Super bummed, the pants fit like a glove and look great (though a tad long for me, but than can be remedied). The pockets are a deal-breaker. I will never understand why companies cut pockets across like that - doesn't anyone try these on before they go to market??
I bought these pretty reluctantly, because I thought they were pretty expensive and they weren't on sale, but I had a trip to Iceland planned and really needed them a day before departure. In the end, after wearing them for 8 days straight, I think they're worth every penny. In below freezing temps with high winds and sudden rains, these were super lightweight while also wind blocking, they dried nearly instantly, and repelled any kind of stain. I washed mud off from them in a river and they were good as new after about 5 minutes of drying! They look great, are tight fitting too -- even after wearing them for many consecutive days. I highly recommend them.
These pants are very comfortable, and great for hiking and outdoor activities in warm weather. However, they have one pitfall that seems too common in women's hiking pants-- impractical pockets! This is worth -2 stars for me, as I wear these for outdoor work, and need as many usable pockets as I can get-- however these front pockets have such a long opening as to keep nothing inside! Actually, I'll give one star back for actually having back pockets, unlike too many women's hiking pants, though they aren't the easiest to access (I'd prefer a zipper closure). If you don't care about using the front pockets, though, go for it.
I really like Columbia's Sat. Trail shorts so I also bought the pants. The pants are even more thin and stretchy than the shorts. This makes them supremely comfortable especially in warm weather. On the downside, the very thin material looks less attractive as it lacks structure. Even the smallest item in one's pocket is visible as perfectly outlined lumps. And mosquitoes bite right through the fabric. The pants are nicely shaped to avoid any gaping in the waist. Those tabs for fastening the pants at capri-length: I never use them because the intended roll-up length seems much longer than I like. In my opinion they could save on that feature...I'd rather just wear either pants or capris.
Really love the fit and lightweight material of these pants. Unfortunately, many of the seams are falling apart after two washes.
Good: - Really comfortable. Soft material and is not uncomfortably low-rise like some other pants out there. - Rolls up easily, so you can get it up past the knee if need be. - Flattering enough for a hiking pant, comes in different colors. Not so great: - Snaps are a bit hard to do up, since they're hidden under a patch of material. And you have to do them up to roll up the pant at all, because otherwise the little straps will dangle down. - It would be nicer if the pant rolled up to just under the knee, instead of halfway up the calf, which is a bit low. - I'm not a cargo pant fan, but it would be nice to have a zip up pocket that could hold a phone. The only zip pocket is really tiny.
I have the hardest time finding pants that fit me because my hips are fairly curvy compared to the rest of my body. Not only do these fit me perfectly, but they are stretchy, breathable, moisture-wicking, and everything else you wish for in an outdoor pant. I wear them hiking and gardening, and any dirt or similar stains I get on them washes right off. I also like that the pockets are big enough to fit my Samsung Galaxy S6 phone in because I like to have it handy on the trail for photos. I've had them for about 3 months now, and they are still just like new. Great quality!
