Awesome First Sleeping Pad
I am 27/5'4"/~175lbs. I bought this sleeping pad for my camping/hiking trip to Truckee/South Lake Tahoe since my friend recommended me to get a sleeping pad. I was first skeptical due to reading reviews and more users weigh less than I do, but I won't know unless I buy it! This is my first ever sleeping pad and it definitely helped my back on the rocky floor at our campsite. The Regular size is perfect fit (though I'd like it wider/longer) and my weight on the pad made no difference because I still had cushion! It's easy to setup and easy to deflate. I highly recommend purchasing this product. It does it's job, is affordable, and have to mention the color is beautiful too!
Excellent value
Bought this for my 11 year old daughter for a recent camping trip to New Mexico for 10 days and she was a big fan even though night temps would dip to mid 40's she remained warm and comfortable. It was easy to set up and easy to pack. One thing that may be an issue to some is this pad is shorter than the same model men's pad which was the same price, as my daughter is not tall this is not and probably won't be a problem but it is something to think about. Having said that, I am pleased with the purchase and she would want me to buy it again.
My first sleeping pad
I purchased this last year for a primitive camping site on a rocky beach. I am so happy I purchased this, I slept so well (unfortunately some of my camping mates who didn't have a pad did not sleep so well). It did not deflate at all. It was perfect for my size (5'6";118lbs;20something yrs). Be sure to not to store this rolled up in the bag. Just store it underneath your bed, inflated. It helps prolong the life of your sleeping pad. Hope this helps!
Back for more
I bought this pad in 2009 and since then, it has gotten hundreds of nights of use. It inflates quickly and stays inflated, it's light, it's extremely comfortable, and it's QUIET (no pool raft-esque squeaking here.) The material feels almost like a short suede, and is just grippy enough that you don't slide around/off once you're in your bag. Hardcore ultralight devotees may poo-poo this pad for being too heavy, but I strongly disagree. A great night's sleep is definitely worth a few ounces. Sadly, I just found out (after a particularly cold and rocky night) that it has a hole (due 100% to faulty storage on my part.) I plan to patch it if possible and keep on trucking with it, but I've picked up a new one just in case because I don't ever want to be without it.
A sleeping mat that does not disappoint!
I purchased this for my first ever camping trip and it did not disappoint. The weekend we went was in September and it got very cold, down in the 30's at night. I could feel my body heat being radiated back to me because this is what the mat was designed to do. With wasy set up and equally easy take down, this sleeping pad was the best. I have to say, that was the greatest night sleep I had all year.
Warmest, most comfortable with minimal breaths
Although a little heavy for ultra light backpacking (1 lb 14 oz), I really liked this pad because it was warmer than any other I tried, had great support for a side sleeper and took only minimal breaths (approx. 15). My only issue was my height and the fact there was only one length - it was a "regular" (5' 6") - I am 5' 6 1/4". My feet and head came off the pad several times during the night. Darn it I really wanted this one to work. I would buy this pad again if it were just 2 to 3 inches longer.
So far so good, compact
I bought this after using the Airrail pad which I returned. Wrote a different review for that one. This pad is lightweight, used for a 3 day backpacking trip and was attached to my bag on the outside. Slept on hard rocks and I am a side sleeper, didnt notice any discomfort. 1.75inches is a good amount for me. Do have to be gentle with the valve though when opening as it could break if pulled too hard. Overall, did its job and will continue to use.
Works great
I have been pleased with the the amount of comfort this particular ground pad has provided. I have not once thought about the idea that I am sleeping on the ground. It is easy enough to inflate & deflate. Well engineered for back packing purposes. Easy to store on a hike.
Valve is terrible, not replaceable
The pad itself is fine, but the valve is a terrible design--it's hard to tell whether you've pushed it in far enough (or too far) to twist closed, and it can turn and turn without closing. We used it about a dozen times before the valve stopped closing. REI does not sell a replacement valve, and the thermarest valve kit doesn't fit REI pads. So disappointing.
They don't carry a replacement valve
Spend more and buy the Therm-a-rest. If the valve malfunctions, which mine did, you can't but a replacement. The Therm-a-rest replacement valve is $8, so because REI doesn't provide a replacement part this become a throw away item. Very frustrated.
