Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great looking + very functional Loved the look of this enough to pay $200 more than similar functioning "core" watches from Suunto. I've owned Suunto watches and dive computers for the past 20 years, and have yet to have one quit working on me. The display on this watch is dim, but I find it easy to read and there are lighting situations (bright outdoors, night time w/ back light) where the display is at its best. Great watch for everyday wearing whether outdoors, work, or on the town.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good all-around watch Pros: Comfortable, fits underneath most of my dress shirt cuffs, not too difficult to learn the functions. The watch band conforms closely to my wrist due to how the band can swivel at the attachment point to the watch. The watch can switch between altimeter and barometer mode automatically, which is convenient. The watch is wide, but not as thick (tall) as other ABC watches. Cons: Display is difficult to see in low light conditions. There IS a way to adjust the contrast, which helps. This setting is not in the main menu. The watch must be turned off then back on, and the the contrast setting is in the start-up menu. The glass display is not lower than the case, if fact it is a little higher than the steel case. So, there is no protection for this rather large expanse of glass against damage by dropping or hitting the watch face against another object.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from My review is for the version a bought in 2012 The watch worked great for 2 months and one 4-day outing. Then it died. I thought the battery was bad and had it replaced by a jeweler. The watched then worked for about 90 minutes and died again. There must be a short somewhere. I am very disappointed, because my goal in buying this watch was to have something I could count on when hiking and camping in the mountains.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Suunto I have ever owned - I have owned a number of Suunto watches from the older Vecters and X9/X10 models, to many of the Cores and the Ultimate Black Core is my favorite. It has all of the familiar Core essentials that I love packed in a sleek new case. I will never be without this watch in my collection. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Watch A beautiful timepiece - sleek, rugged. Everything works like it should. Highly recommend it to anyone.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Functional, fancy, but can't take a beating After years of using a rugged Casio Pathfinder, I decided to upgrade to the Core. I wanted something a bit fancier that would fit in at the office as well as in the mountains. The watch looks great and has a wealth of information at your fingertips. However, after only three weeks of owning this watch, I had to return it. The brushed steel finish scratches easily as does the crystal glass facing. Additionally, after these three weeks of minimal use, one of the wristband notches was already splitting apart. That's something I'd expect around a year of normal wear, but not after everyday use for less than a month... I tried to love this watch, I tried sooo hard. But eventually after seeing the quick degradation in such a short period of time I decided to return it and go with another Casio that provides essentially the same ABC (altimeter, barometer, compass) functions as the Core (minus the depth gauge, that's pretty cool) but with solar power and a much more robust body. The core is a great watch, but not in this finish. Save yourself the $100+ or so and just get the normal all black version. This one's not worth the extra greenbacks.
