Really pricey but comfortable
I have a pair of Paniolos is red. They rock. At first my feet were very aware of the embroidery on the sole but after a few days it served as additional traction. I have nothing bad to say about these flip flops and for the steep price, I looked at their performance critically. Very satisfied with durability, the only issue I had was that they stained my feet in the beginning. If they are exposed to saltwater, just rub them down with a baby wipe or coconut oil and they will look new.
Too Uncomfortable
Tried these out around the house off and on for a couple weeks. I anticipated there might be a break in period for the toe strap, which there is - it is very stiff and painful (I used cotton pads as a protective barrier while testing them out). But what I didn't anticipate is that walking or standing on these soles feels like walking or standing on flat, stiff, unmolded, thin, hard wood planks. Wearing them just for short periods of time made the bottoms of my feet ache! Despite the beautiful appearance of the sandals, they are being returned. They're too expensive for such a lack of comfort, and life's too short.
Not for walking
Ouch, these absolutely murdered my feet. Wore them around the house for a few days, they were fine. Then I walked maybe 2 miles around the city and my feet were rubbed raw and blistering. The leather is cut in a very aggressive way, not smooth at all. I was cut between my toes and had blisters on both sides of both feet. I have an average size foot, not wide. Anyway, super bummer because they are so cute. I've never had such a painful footwear experience.
Fashionable and Functional
I bought these Flip-Flops for my wife for our Hawaii vacation. She loved these because they have the tread and comfort for walking around at the beach, pool side and occasional dirt road, but she didn't have to scarifice on looks. Maybe now she'll toss those terrible Tori Burch flipflops and use these which won't hurt your feet after a little bit of walking.
worst flip flops ever
I bought this shoe last year, in the first couple of month they were great. After this time the leather between the toes gets longer and longer. When I try to walk it is like loosing the shoes. Now I am wearing them as a house shoe and go again with the cheaper rubber/plastic shoes.
real leather - gotta break it in!
These are so darn pretty... but you have a little work to do to get them comfortable. They were tight and a bit rigid at first, but stretched and molded within a few wearings. I did get them wet, but wouldn't want to do that once they have stretched to fit. They are so unusual and really stand out. And now that they've broken in, and the footbed has molded to my foot- they are super comfortable. Love them!
very cute and sooooo uncomfortable
A year later and I'm still hoping eventually I'd like them. Not so much. The toe thing is super stiff leather (ouchy), the footbed stitching rubs my foot raw, and the sole is so stiff and inflexible that it's like walking (and slapping down) a thin board. If all you're doing is standing around in cutesy jeans then these are rockin. But if you actually want to walk even to the car maybe, then not so much. Drat.
Buyer Beware
Do not buy these flip flops! They are so beautiful but they are not functional at all. I wore them for thirty minutes walking around and my feet are killing me. They are super heavy and awkward. Some reviews say they are tight but for me they are loose. The thing piece is weirdly stitched together so it rubs your skin badly. The weight of them is the biggest problem. Just so heavy. I think the other Olukai flip flop models are much lighter and much more comfortable.
Comfortable, supportive, and cute!
I absolutely love Olukai flip flops, and this is my fourth pair. I was nervous about the leather because I have sensitive skin and was afraid the leather straps would end up cutting into/blistering/irritating my feet. None of that has happened! They are more supportive than the foam, less casual looking, and very comfortable. Will definitely buy more.
Not nearly as comfortable as their other flip flop
These flip flops are tighter and more rigid than their other flip flops. The leather stretches as the summer goes on, but still not nearly as comfortable as their others. The leather piece between the toes isn't very comfortable either. I usually have rub marks on the top of my feet from the leather after wearing them (they are not too small, just how it is).
