Really a Storm Break!
I test this tent at Tarak Ridge Philippines. This tent performed well in a very strong wind, spacious for 2 person, no problem on zipper, easy to set up, more space for your gear coz it has 2 doors 2 canopy. The only thing i noticed is the stakes only 8pcs. it should be 10 0r 12. Very Cool. Hope for other color. Good Job TNF.

Very disappointed
First off, let me say that I understand that this was most likely the fault of North Face for letting an item like this out the door - not the fault of REI. I ordered this tent for the very attractive price, 5-star rating, and general good reputation of TNF as an outdoor brand. However, upon receiving it in the mail and opening it up for the initial "living room setup," almost every single pole/polestring was unattached and completely falling apart. I'm sure this is a stellar tent if the buyer receives it properly, but I couldn't have set this up with what was shipped. Thank goodness I gave it a test run before taking it backpacking. The tent was on back order when I ordered it, so maybe TNF was just trying to get orders out the door? Either way - I wouldn't want to buy a tent from a company that rushes production just to get it done. Please inspect your inventory, REI! I'm a loyal customer and would like to stay that way.

Amazing Tent!

I love this tent! I bought it the spring of 2016 and took it to the boundary waters canoe area the following summer. It is VERY easy to set up after the first time and is easy to fit on small tent pads. This tent stands up very well to bad weather, I slept in it through a very heavy downpour with strong winds and stayed completely dry. The double vestibule is wonderful and makes it easier to slip out to use the latrine without waking up your roommate, it is also the perfect place to put your pack and shoes as it stays dry under the fly. The yellow rainfly is fabulous and makes a beautiful hue to wake up to. My only complaint is that it does not come with a gear loft or footprint (footprint can be purchased separately). I plan on buying at least one more of this tent!

Love this tent

I bought this tent a month ago after owning two previous The North Face tents, ( The Rock and the Minibus (3 person tent)), and it was roomy enough for me and my 80 pound Labrador. It was a cold night in the mountains at Big Springs campground at the backside of Pebble Creek ski area, and I used the fly for that reason. I snuggled down to a good night's rest and was actually warm when the sun came up. I had forgotten my pad so I pitched on tall grass and sagebrush and the tent held down wonderfully. My dog had room to move and so did I. After the Minibus 3 person tent, this one as a 2 person tent felt still spacious. You can't beat the price for this tent, I'll be taking it to Hood River on my way to the Oregon coast in a couple weeks and don't feel I need another tent. I love that the tent has doors on both sides. I plan to get the REI Kingdom Cot 3 which will fit snugly within this tent. This is a great tent for beginners and seasoned campers as well. I used it for car camping though my car was pretty far away. I'll be using it for backpacking soon.

Stable, dry, good for one Adult

Very impressed with this tent. Extremely stable in high winds. Dry in a downpour. Easy to set up, and built well for the price. Took down and packed this tent away in 5 minutes. Have used several times over two years. Well ventilated, so good for warm and wet weather. A little drafty for cold windy nights (the trade-off for a tent that breathes well. Size is just about right for 1 adult plus gear. Vestibules stay dry and are big enough to fit your pack outside the tent if ground conditions allow. A good option for dads going on scout camp outs. If you want to sleep 2 adults comfortably, upsize to the strombreak 3.

Ridiculously easy to set up

I bought this for camping in the black hills of south dakota. I am a total amateur when it comes to camping, but it was so easy to set this up. I am a 21 year old girl and I was able to set this up in under 5 minutes. It seems like its built extremely well and I am so excited to use it. My australian shepherd was extremely excited about it too!

Great tent for a journey on the JMT

This tent was purchased for our backpacking trip along the JMT southbound leaving from Happy Isles. The first time setting up the tent proved to be very simple and intuitive. I shared the tent with my father for the first week of the trip and there was plenty of room to sleep comfortably. I am 5'10" 170 lbs and my father is about 5'6" 165 lbs. We are by no means tall but there was plenty of width to move around. I used the tent for about two weeks alone and it was very comfortable. I slept with backpack and most of my gear inside and never once felt claustrophobic or restrained. Set up on the trail was easy and by the end of my trip I could both set the tent up and take it down in a matter of minutes. The tents performance was 5 star. People were shocked when the saw my tent and some even commented that it was an overkill but I wasn't going for the ultralight experience. I wanted something practical and something that would keep me dry. The tent may weigh more than your average backpacking tent but it will protect you from the elements. We got pummeled by a storm all night at around 10,000 feet and I stayed warm and dry. I never doubted my tent or regretted the extra weight I was carrying. I also bought some aluminum tent stakes to really secure this for the high winds of the high sierra. I recommend this tent to anybody who wants to stay dry and protected from the unpredictability of mother nature. It will do it's job and it will do it well. Don't hesitate if you are looking for a great tent and a fair price.

Awesome tent at a great price!

I just bought this tent for a camping trip with my son. Setup was easy, tent is very well constructed, solid in the wind, and it kept the temperature just right. I was amazed at how well this tent performed for the price. I would feel comfortable paying twice the amount I paid for the quality of the tent. The only thing I never use that comes with tents are the stakes so I am not sure of the quality of the supplied stakes. I always use high quality aluminum stakes so I don't have to worry about them coming out/bending/etc. My camping was in the Los Padres National Forest.

Nice. Easy setup. Rained first 4 days I setup..

I took this to Mather and a few other places. Kept the elements out super well, I set it up in a few minutes, and broke it down same. I like the shape and height. You can fit 2 people, but I use it solo and would say that I wouldn't want 2 people in it ALOT. Although very doable. Nice and light. Packs small. Rain fly very effective. Rained all 4 times I've camped thus far, no leaks, etc. Cheers.

Great Tent, Great Value

I bought this tent last month for a backpacking trip in Joshua Tree National Park in December. I know the climate is variable at that time of year but mostly windy and cold. This tent was extremely easy to set up. I didn't practice at home and it really took me less that 10 minutes. The dual fly is convenient and it was very roomy. My 3 and 7 year old nieces were bunking with me and there was still plenty of room! To top the night off, it started to rain in the middle of the night. It rained pretty hard and the tent was nice and dry. The only con I have are the steaks. Not the best quality. I would recommend this tent 100%!

Stormbreak

I bought this tent so I can use it on backpacking trips. Over the weekend I took the tent to an elevation of 9,400ft. The tent setup is very easy and can be assembled without using the directions that are enclosed. The evening that the tent experienced in the mountains was a true test and I can truly say that the name Stormbreak 2 is perfect. The afternoon had constant 30mph winds and each time I glanced over to look at the tent it was standing strong. Later in the evening, there was a small rain shower that interrupted the camp fire I had going and an opportunity to head into the tent for shelter. Everything stayed dry in the 5 minutes of rain and it was followed by 50mph winds. I was extremely happy to be inside of a tent that was not flapping around as I have experienced in the past with other tents. While it was not a true test in wet conditions despite having rain, it stood up to a wind storm like a champ, two thumbs up!!!!
