Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazingly sturdy and water tight Usually do backcountry trips, but on my first trip with this tent it was a car camping rustic campsite affair. Camped by a little lake and a thunder storm rolled in that brought everything you can imagine with it. had to take down my tarp due to gale force winds. But this tent held up fine and shed rain that was running down the fly like one of those drive thru car washes. A literal waterfall on all four sides. For the price this tent amazed me. The near vertical interior walls and high ceiling hight make for a comfortable two man tent. I highly recommend it for any kind of three season camping/hiking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stable, dry, good for one Adult Very impressed with this tent. Extremely stable in high winds. Dry in a downpour. Easy to set up, and built well for the price. Took down and packed this tent away in 5 minutes. Have used several times over two years. Well ventilated, so good for warm and wet weather. A little drafty for cold windy nights (the trade-off for a tent that breathes well. Size is just about right for 1 adult plus gear. Vestibules stay dry and are big enough to fit your pack outside the tent if ground conditions allow. A good option for dads going on scout camp outs. If you want to sleep 2 adults comfortably, upsize to the strombreak 3.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect! This tent is amazing. A 2 person tent with extra headroom. Can be set up with one person. The rain fly is made out of high quality materiel. Lightweight for backpacking. The two doors on this tent just blew me away. You know how annoying it is in the middle of the night when someone is crawling over you or you over them... No problem with this tent, it has two doors. Very well ventilated. Last of all price. I can not believe this tent was not way more expensive. I am more than pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome tent at a great price! I just bought this tent for a camping trip with my son. Setup was easy, tent is very well constructed, solid in the wind, and it kept the temperature just right. I was amazed at how well this tent performed for the price. I would feel comfortable paying twice the amount I paid for the quality of the tent. The only thing I never use that comes with tents are the stakes so I am not sure of the quality of the supplied stakes. I always use high quality aluminum stakes so I don't have to worry about them coming out/bending/etc. My camping was in the Los Padres National Forest.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Tent! I love this tent! I bought it the spring of 2016 and took it to the boundary waters canoe area the following summer. It is VERY easy to set up after the first time and is easy to fit on small tent pads. This tent stands up very well to bad weather, I slept in it through a very heavy downpour with strong winds and stayed completely dry. The double vestibule is wonderful and makes it easier to slip out to use the latrine without waking up your roommate, it is also the perfect place to put your pack and shoes as it stays dry under the fly. The yellow rainfly is fabulous and makes a beautiful hue to wake up to. My only complaint is that it does not come with a gear loft or footprint (footprint can be purchased separately). I plan on buying at least one more of this tent!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Tent to Meet Your Needs Recently bought this tent to head out for my archaeology field school training. It is easy to set up with one person and is durable and stable in wind and storm. I needed a tent that would keep me and my gear dry and it exceeded my expectations. In a down pouring thunder storm all my clothes and gear were dry as a desert where as my colleagues were complaining on how their clothes and gear were wet and I was nice and dry. Looking for a lightweight camping tent for hiking and portaging and extended camping get this one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice. Easy setup. Rained first 4 days I setup.. I took this to Mather and a few other places. Kept the elements out super well, I set it up in a few minutes, and broke it down same. I like the shape and height. You can fit 2 people, but I use it solo and would say that I wouldn't want 2 people in it ALOT. Although very doable. Nice and light. Packs small. Rain fly very effective. Rained all 4 times I've camped thus far, no leaks, etc. Cheers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First trip with Stormbreak 2 Wow very impressive I have had several tents, the first trip for this one was a very nasty 3 day trip with wind driven, pouring rain. While many of the other folks ended up soaked to the bone in their very high end 4-6 hundred $ tents, we stayed dry. Excellent job on the Talus 2 redesigned, we especially appreciate the 2 doors and 2 vestibules which even kept our gear and boot dry without bringing the mess inside. I can see why you named it the Stormbreak 2.

Does the tent have to be set up with 4 poles or will 2 suffice?

Asked by: Mijo912
While this tent can stand on its own with just the two main poles, we recommend using all for maximum livable space and protection from the wind.

From the details tab it sounds like the rain fly is include. Can you please confirm that that is in fact the case? Or does the rain fly need to be purchased separately like the foot print?

Asked by: Peekabuubuu
The rainfly is included.

hi. we are wanting to use this as a stand alone bug repellant in Costa Rica. Is the mesh small enough to keep no seeums and bed bugs? Is there a better product for this? We are backpacking.

Asked by: wez
The no-see-um netting on the Stormbreak 2 Tent will also stop bed bugs.

How does this pack in a hiking backpack? Where do you place it? In or out of pack? Heavy?  I realized the weight once I ordered it, now a bit worried it might be to heavy.

Asked by: mitch
This is a heavier backpacking tent, but it is personal preference if this is too heavy or not to carry. For information on how to load your backpacking pack, we recommend reading the article below: https://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/loading-backpack.html
