Rated 5 out of 5 by from A necessity if working in EMS I am an EMT and almost a paramedic. I purchased these after a cheap, cheesy pair of shears I had broke. I have not regretted it a day since! These are the best shears on the market in my opinion. The first pair I owned had an issue with the closing mechanism after approximately 8 months of use, but I easily returned them to REI and they were swapped for a brand new pair. Leatherman's offers a 25 year warranty with these shears, which is excellent. These are totally worth the cash! I haven't used the ring cutter yet, but it seems to be pretty legit. I have used every other aspect of this tool, including the seatbelt-cutter and everything works very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything you need in one handy tool ive been working now for a while as a paramedic in nyc for a few years and there has been many times where i dont carry a o2 key or shears for the fact that i have no place to put them... but, now leatherman has made my life easier by putting it all in one package (plus extras i dont think i need because i work in the city). The design of it makes it small and compact and with the included belt clip makes it easy for me at work (everything at work is strapped to your belt) i can sit in my ambulance and it wont get in the way and its there if i ever need any of the multi uses it has. The only thing CON it has is a bottle opener for after work hours. i can forsee myself getting another one just in case and my coworkers following suit

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great addition to any medics kit So far I am very impressed with this new tool. It is high time someone made a good set of strong medical shears instead of the cheap throw a ways. The seat belt cutter is good and sharp, the holster is well thought out and holds the tool in place wherever you need it. The tool was easily opened right out of the packaging. My Boss was so impressed with the she order one for all the rest of our Paramedics and EMTs. Overall very please with this tool! Home run leatherman!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GreatTool I bought a pair about a month ago. The holster hanging on scrub pockets a bit too heavy and get caught on everything on the ER. The ability to fold the scissors themselves is great. The scissors are probably a little much for everyday use, but on two separate occasions, a workbook needed to be cut off. I was the only person around that had the tool for the job. The scissors sliced right through the leather even reinforced. I haven't had a chance to use the strap cutter or O2 wrench. I would recommend these to anyone in the med field.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Tool, Buy It! This is an amazing little tool, and I would say It's a must-have for all of you in the Emergency Medical field. It has pretty much everything you need on a daily basis, and is compact enough (folds up) to fit anywhere. The shears themselves are incredibly impressive and blow any 5-20 dollar shears out of the water.. No jams and cuts through anything. I would not describe myself as a Ricky Rescue type of person, so I was a little hesitant buying these.. I don't like putting things on my belt or in my pockets that I don't use on a VERY regular basis, but I wear this proudly on my belt (folded up and in the holder), and use them more than I thought I would. VERY sturdily made and they are rock solid. They work great on jeans, seatbelts, sweaters, jackets and even 4x4's and ABD pads. I can't think of one thing bad to say about these and recommend them to anyone that see's them. Put them on your holiday wishlist/birthday list, or just do yourself a favor and buy them yourself. They are worth the pricetag for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Leatherman Raptor- The Best!!! I'm a Trauma RN and I use these on the job. They are great. Tear thru clothes, boots, dressings...whatever is in my way. Folds down to 1/2 the size. The best trauma shears I've ever seen. Nice bonuses too- love the ring cutter. I was practicing with it by cutting nails- no problem. I bought a 2nd one for use around the house. Love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality! Just as you would expect with any Leatherman product, it is very high quality! They cut extremely well, everything form cord and hair to paper and clothes! They have adjustment screws for tightening and loosening various parts of the scissors. I had to tighten my scissors JUST a hair. In the pocket they hide pretty well. In your hand, even folded, they are pretty large, but surprisingly, when in your back pocket, I hardly notice they are there, and only about 1-1/4" of the scissors stick out. I am not an EMT, but I think they are a great alternative to carrying a knife. It all depends what you do for a living, but for me this works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfection Great product & high quality. Everything you could want in a pair of high quality medical shears. Yes, heavier than your $5 trauma shears but you get what you pay for. The collapsible storage is great for smaller medical kits. When not being used professionally, it's in my glove compartment.

This also looks like a tool for field research. I don't see a knife blade, which is good. Any chance that the FAA would allow this in a carry-on bag on a plane?

Asked by: Ed the plant breeder
According to TSA's website, the Raptor Shears would need to be placed in your checked luggage and cannot be carried on the plane.
