Step up from black diamond; different than grivel
Awesome screws. They rack well, taking Minimal space. They feed well into -10f ice then into wet, plastic ice Some of the benefits that I have not read elsewhere of their flickable handle is that it gives an additional 2 inches of handle length over black diamond so you get more leverage and thus faster screw Placements. But when the flickable handle is collapsed it takes less space than black diamonds so you don’t have to clear as much ice as black diamonds. The handle does flick out easily but doesn’t flop around annoyingly. The hanger easily accepts two locking carabiners. I feel these are a perfect hybrid between grivel 360s and black diamond screws. I keep and use my grivels because they place fast and are easier to place because you don’t need to clean an area as much. The black diamonds I own-rarely get used at all now.

I have been climbing ice for 25 years. I started with Chouinard ice screws placed with a ratchet and pound-in Snargs. For two decades I used Black Diamond screws, which used to be the standard ice screws, everyone used them because they were the best. These screws have a far superior tooth angle that bite into the ice much easier, are built of superior Charlet steel which is more durable, have a more ergonomic hanger, and they are lighter.
