Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fischer BCX 675 Backcountry Ski Boot I tried Rossignol, but found it was too narrow. I then switched to a larger size Rossignol and this was too loose in the heel. So I switched to Fischer and I think overall, Fisher is better for wide feet. There are no half sizes so the slightly larger size has an acceptable width. By adding two layers of padding on the heels I had no trouble doing several 5-10 mile trips. Fantastic service from REI on the returns.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love 'em I just got these this season so no durability judgement yet. They seem well made though. These boots are not nearly as heavy as they look. I go off trail more than on groomed trails. I used to be an intermediate skier but I've been away for 20 years. The side supports have saved my weak left ankle at least once already. To be perfect I would have liked one more set of eyelets to bring the laces a bit higher but thats just the fit to my feet. In american sizes I wear a 10 1/2 D. I bought 45's and they seem just a touch bit wide in the front. These are very minor issues though. I've found some heavier socks and will open up the heel a little and that should do the trick. There was no break-in period with these. To really nit-pick: they do seem to squeak in some wx conditions. That might go away with more use... I plan to get another pair of these before they're discontinued. For my present flexibility and health I honestly can't imagine a better pair of boots. This is the third set I've tried this year and they put the others to shame. think Ted Williams vs an average college pitcher... that kind of shame.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good product light weight, comfortable and stiff. Mine are pretty new right now and they seem to loosen a bit but adjusting is easy. Size is right on. I would recommend these boots. I used my dividend to get the price down to about 150.00 which is where they should be priced anyway and why I did not give 5 stars.

Questions & Answers

I'm looking for a size 12 off trail xc ski boot in a very [4E] wide width. How wide is this boot and do you have any other suggestions?

Asked by: Bohiem
The Fischer BCX ski boots come in a "D" or standard width. We are not aware of cross country ski boots that come in a 4E width.
