Lightweight

Overall, I like this paddle. I bought a Stingray paddle for my wife, but wanted a slightly larger surface area on my own paddle. The only downside I've found so far is when I'm paddling hard, I can feel a "popping" coming from the paddle. I believe this is due to the larger paddle surface area -- the outer edges of the paddle are flexing under the pressure of the water. Examples of when I feel the popping are when paddling hard into the wind, or when I'm trying to catch up to, or beat my fellow kayakers. I checked a paddle in the store and could recreate the popping by flexing the paddle face firmly. I don't notice the popping on the Stingray, which has a smaller surface area. I don't think the popping reduces the efficiency, it is just a little annoying to feel as you're paddling hard. I love the lightweight carbon and the Posi-Lok ferrule -- the connection feels very solid. Overall, a high quality paddle.

Aqua-Bound kayak paddles are excellent paddles for the money! We have a 220 and a 230 Aqua-Bound, a 240 Werner and a Magellan HT Carbon 230 and they are all good for their specific use!
