Perfect
My boyfriend and I decides to go camping for our anniversary and he already has a hammock. We wanted to backpack out to a remote spot and our large tent was not gonna fit. So after some research I order this hammock. I'm 5'5 and about 180lbs and this tent was perfect for me. I slept diagonally on my back like suggested but I could also sleep on my side (fetal position) very comfortably. It's made of very sturdy material that made me feel secure. The storage for my book and cellphone was PERFECT. Set up (even w practice rounds at home) Took about 8 min and though it is a little complicated, it was worth it. Conversely, disassembling was pretty quick. My boyfriend likes my hammock more than his...he tried to steal it for the week!! Lol! And thats because this hammock is spacious, sturdy, and is superior at protection from bugs. The rain fly looks like it will protect from rain too. Tho we only got light sprinkles, so it hasn't been tested yet. My only complaint is the lack of airflow. Though it isn't as stuffy as a tent it does trap some body heat. Which is probably great for chilly nights....but it's July, sooo not so great right now. Although flipping back one edge of the rainfly did remedy this...that wouldn't help if it's raining. Some faults aside I so recommend this tent. It's compact enough for backpacking. Well built for long trips. And all around worth the money spent. "But once, cry once." ( meaning cry spending that much money, but never cry again bc the product is superior)
Awesome Concept (Even for Tall Folks)
This hammock does it's job well. Despite being 6'-5" tall, I find that I have plenty of space. And as long as I sleep at the hammock's recommended angle, I find that I'm supported rather comfortably too. I highly recommend watching a few informational videos posted by other Hennessy Hammock owners to see the easiest ways to setup the hammock. If done properly, no knots are required... and setup can take less than 5 minutes.
Hangin' in the Boundary Waters
I have just returned from a week in the Boundary Waters using my HH exclusively and it just doesn't get any better - hanging on the edge of a lake in a wilderness area, wolves howling not far away, an almost full moon and a soft breeze blowing right into your hammock. Awesome! The Hennessey performed beautifully in wind, rain & cold… I stayed warm and dry which at times I found amazing since I went to sleep with my rain fly tied fairly high and flat so I could see the lake. Woke up to a stiff breeze and rain but not once did I or the hammock get a drop. I did use the hexagonal fly (optional) for better coverage and piled my gear on a ground sheet underneath, no problems there either. Also, the snakeskins serve to prevent water from running down the lines. I have to say that the HH contributed greatly to my enjoyment of the trip since other members of my group using tents had a less enjoyable experience due primarily to their shelters. So, the moral of the story is… go hang!
AWESOME HAMMOCK
I bought this hammock last year and Love it! The integrated bug net is perfect, the zippers are heavy duty and it could not be easier to set up. I did purchase the ENO Atlas straps as well has the Hennessey snake skins. Both of these made the hanging much easier. Also, if you're looking for an easy way to adjust the height, I recommend researching the use of descending rings. (2 on each end) With these additions I can have this hung in under 3 mins. Very comfortable and allows me to sleep on my side. It is a little heavy if I were hiking for more than a few days but I usually canoe so I don't mind the little extra weight for significantly more comfort. Having a bad back, this helped bring the joy back to camping as I did not wake up stiff as a 2x4. It can get a little chilly so you may want to look at an Underquilt but compared to a tent, I have never slept better in the BWCA! Highly recommend this product to anyone looking to get off the ground, sleep well, stay dry and keep the bugs out.
You will never tent again!
Frankly, the best customer service ever. I had an issue and I called, Hennessy Hammock resolved my issues right away. I own 5 hammocks (for me and my family) and would recommend this product over any other hammocks on the market. Not only a great product, but they take care of their customers.
Awesome Hammock
I used this hammock for Floydfest and it proved to be an excellent shelter. Easy to set up and very comfortable. I used the larger rain fly sold separately from the rain fly provided. Stayed dry during some periods of heavy rain.
The most important item
A hammock can be the most important item on an expedition. I took this one to the amazon. I was very very glad that I exchanged the "classic" for the "zip" because it would have driven me crazy if I could never get in the hammock without having the mosquito net deployed. Yes, the mosquito net is important, but sometimes a cool breeze and open air is important too. The Hammock is sturdy and well made. The zippers, cords, fabric and netting are very well made. I spent about two weeks in this hammock, and became increasingly frustrated with the asymmetrical design. The idea is that by making the hammock slightly asymmetrical, one can lie flatter across the hammock. The problem is that this forces you to lay with your head to the left of the midline and your feet to the right. When you flip sides, you end up in the same orientation, head left of center, feet to the right. My natural tendency was to roll over so I was facing the center, and as a result, my body would bow slightly, with the right hip and the bottom of the bow. Overtime, I really wanted to switch sides to flex in the other direction, but due to the asymmetrical design, this was not possible. It became very uncomfortable. This hammock would be excellent for a short weekend of roughing it. It is easy to set up, very well made, light weight, and bug proof. For longer trips, and if you will be sleeping under cover, I might choose another model.
Very Comfy and Handy for Backpacking.
I loved the hammock, not a single issue there. HOWEVER, my hammock arrived used, I paid $200 for a used hammock with minor damage. I didn't have a chance to set it up before my trip, so when I got out in the mountains and set it up, I unzipped it and looked inside, it was full of leaf litter and sand, and the little gear pouch on the inside had hair in it. These things are no big deal, but I also noticed right about the area where you butt sleeps there was an abrasion and small hole. It is rip stop nylon so it still seems pretty rugged but will certainly effect it's life span to some extent. I was very much not impressed. But I used it anyway and as far as the function of the hammock it was great, though I found my sleep pad to move around way to much, the hammock didn't seem to have a way to secure it at all. The rain tarp was great, everything stayed dry in a fairly heavy rain. I also got the long stuff bags for the hammock which I suggest everyone get, it makes setup and take down super fast and easy.
Not what I was looking for but a decent hammock.
3 out of 5 just because the asym* doesn't really flatten out the way advertised. Still bows like any of the same style hammock. Besides that the hammock is nice, good quality and easy to set up.
