Pretty good cooler

I followed the enclosed instructions (pre-chill everything including cooler then add .75 lbs of ice/quart of capacity, do not drain water) and took it out to the Nevada desert for 4 days filled with a half a case of beer, 6 quarts of soda and some food. I used two 10 lb blocks of ice and the remainder cubes. The cooler remained in my SUV the entire time with air temps hitting 100 each day. The lows at night hit the low 60's. I still had ice remaining after 4 days and the beverages were ice cold. It did its job. Why not 5 stars? Too much ice is required to keep it cold and it takes up a lot of the capacity. Not draining the water certainly kept it cold but everything was floating. Nice thin walls and it is very light. Good cooler for an extended weekend.

I had this cooler for a year and liked its' size and it did a good job of keeping things cool for longer than I expected (3-4 days at least). The problem was it became very heavy when filled with water and ultimately, while lifting it out of the back of my truck, the handle simply broke spilling the contents everywhere. Once that happens it is almost impossible to carry and I was on a road trip which was a pain. I returned this cooler and went with steel. Steel is more manageable and durable.

Impressive cooler

Bought this in need of a solid performing cooler for a 4 day camp trip to the Eastern Sierra at 8,000 ft and I was impressed. I had been intent of the reception of a Yeti cooler that I was going to take on the trip but it didn't arrive on time so I made a run to REI and found this 70 qt. guy and I am glad that I did. It's large enough to fit food and drink for 2 people over the course of 3-4 days and kept them cool and a 5 lb. bag of ice solid for 2 days before it began to turned to water. Cancelled the YETI order and will stay with this larger and less expensive cooler. Great cooler. Better than many and less expensive than some.

Works as advertised

We purchased this cooler for an extended weekend of camping in Northern MN. Daytime temperatures averaged in the high 70s with nighttime lows in the 40s and 50s. The cooler was stuffed with food, drinks and two 18 lb. bags of ice. The equivalent of one 18 lb. bag of ice remained after 3 days in those conditions. The hinge and handles look to be the primary points that may fail with extended use, but the design appears no better or worse than similarly priced coolers. Thus far, the cooler has exceeded our expectations and justifies the modest premium paid for the Xtreme over standard.

Awesome Cooler

I bought this on recommendation of many online reviews. It came with the promise of being able to keep frozen goods frozen for a few days. I bought it in hopes of being able to haul 3 gallons of ice cream, 8 quarts of milk, and a few pounds of cheese (we like dairy in my house). I put all the items in the cooler and filled it with ice, preparing for a nine hour trip through temperatures that ranged between 60-70 degrees F. What can I say except that my items arrived home nice and cold and there was very little ice melted. I quickly put some beer in there and set it outside. To my amazement, 4 days later, I still had ice in the cooler. For it's price, this a great cooler.

Standard Cooler Done Well Enough

This cooler is a step up from the year-to-year throw-away you might buy from another store. It's sturdy, but light and spacious with decent insulation. In 85 degree weather, it held ice for 2 days give or take. Over a 4 day period, needed to top off with ice twice. All this being said, it's a good cooler to have around for single-day engagements when you need the space, seating, and cup space. I'm concerned about the longevity of the handles. They get stressed under heavy loads when carrying, but they've held up find so far. Would recommend unless you opt for a higher-end brand.

So Far So Good, Worth the Money

First time buying an expensive, quality cooler so my review is based on very limited experience with coolers. I've also only used it one. But I did some research on coolers and felt this had the best reviews without having to spend more than $100. The ice remained for at least 3 days-I dumped it out on the 3rd since that when I got home but it still had ice--considering I failed to close the lid completely unintentionally. I think it'd be a 10/10 if it came with roller wheels but I'm guessing that due to the potential weight it could carry, it might not be the best idea, idk. Other than that, I am glad I made the investment, hopefully it's one that'll last

Did better than expected

Bought this cooler for an 8 day trip through Utah and Arizona in July. I used 5 1 gal. milk jugs filled with water and froze them. Also froze enough 20 oz gatorades to fill rest of ice chest, then removed enough to put in my food...cold cuts, bacon, eggs, mayo, etc. Placed cooler on back seat of my xtra cab pickup and covered with a down sleeping bag. Spent 5 days camping in Utah with daytime highs at 104 degrees as well as 1 day near Phoenix at 106 plus 2 days driving. I opened the cooler as little as possible during the trip. When I returned to San Diego I put the cooler on the floor at home and removed the remaining food. 4 days later (yes a total of 12) I still had softball sized ice in the milk jugs. Most of the gatorades were completely liquid. I know I went over the top to make this thing last but it exceeded my expectations in very hot conditions.

Cool Cooler!!!

I was on a 4 day camping trip. Bought a large bag of ice the first day. We kept the cooler outside our tent. Outside temperature was in the low 80's during the day and high 50's at night. And even though there was no ice by the 4th day the water in the cooler kept food and drinks cold. Also we ended up using the cooler as an extra seat.

An extremely well-designed cooler

While I have been researching coolers for quite a while of course I've looked at the very expensive ones and I've looked at different brands this Coleman cooler that I purchased worked flawlessly I put one block of ice in there on a Tuesday 6 days later the block of ice was still frozen of course there was some depreciation but it kept everything in that ice box cold for 6 days I also used it with dry ice properly and the dry ice supplements at the same rate no matter what kind of a cooler you put it in at least my opinion and it worked for Lawless Lee as well so yes I give this 5 stars I recommend it to anybody that wants to go tent camping

Outstanding, especially for the price

I bought 2 of these to take to a family reunion at Tx Coast. They worked extremely well, kept everything chilly for many days(added ice one time after initial fill during the entire week)and in all honesty worked better/colder/longer than the other, more expensive cooler I brought that rhymes with Eddie :)
