These straps are highly abrasive

I purchased these straps to secure my Delta 12.10 kayak to a set of Thule Hull-a-Port Aero's. The Hull-a-Port system is exceptional, these straps however are not. While they are indeed strong, the woven material is highly abrasive and WILL damage a thermoformed ABS plastic boat such as most Delta kayaks. A softer strap is necessary in order to protect your expensive piece of outdoor gear.

Good for in place security

Purchased this to provide some extra protection to my rooftop paddleboard (not in a cradle) however, because of the internal cable, it doesn't latch as tightly as my ratchet straps. I ended up using them as an add-on to the ratchet straps for stopping in the city, or overnight theft deterrent, however I don't drive with them on. They flap all over since they don't tighten well.

Didn’t hold up to a theif

Used these to secure a tool box to my roof while traveling. Last night the box was stolen when someone Tried to burn through the straps. They weren’t able to get through the metal in the straps, but then they just busted the lock right open. Super disappointed.

Steel Wire protrudes through strap

These straps are great but this is my second pair after about 2 years the wire starts to protrude through the nylon part of the strap making it difficult to push through through the rubber coated lock down piece. Not sure why this keeps happening?

so happy I purchased these locking straps

I have two Eddyline kayaks and I travel with them everywhere. The straps do not damage or scratch my yaks and I’m confident that my yaks are secure. I haven’t experienced any loose or flappy straps. I loved my first set of straps and bought another when I purchased my second yak. I highly recommend them.

Peace of mind

We have Thule racks for bicycles, kayaks, surfboards and skiing. I have become over the past 20 years a quick change artist using our Thule square bar. I keyed everything alike.Yes it was an expense to order the amount of the same cylinders I needed for all, but it is one key for all. These straps make it so I have peace of mind, after locking the kayaks or surfboards with them, so we can enjoy a nice meal or whatever away from our vehicles line of sight. Great product.

No engraved lock number to match keys

If you have a lot of Thule products, you know it's convenient that Thule always engraves the lock number on the keys and the lock itself. This makes it easy to match up both when you have a pile of Thule keys. THIS IS NOT THE CASE with these. There is no engraved number on the locks, only on the keys. Thule you lost my trust in quality products from you.

Thank you for sharing your feedback on the lock cores included with your Thule Locking Straps. Many older Thule products featured locks with the matching key codes displayed on the front. More recent locks only display the code on the key in response to customer requests for improved security on the system. Thule recommends recording the lock number and storing it with the user manual and proof of purchase in the event of emergencies or warranty requests. Additionally many Thule dealers and installers carry a "master key ring" which can be used to identify the matching key and purchase replacements.

Great option for locking your canoe kayak!

Love the integrated wire inside the straps and ease of use of the lock mechanism! Also awesome that you can change the locks to fit your set if locks for "one key to rule them all". Thanks Thule for great product. The 13ft is perfect for our canoe. (The 10 ft option will be too short however to anyone looking for steaps for their canoe)

Locking tie downs

I bought these in addition to my Hullavator lift system. Thought I have used them as yet, I’m sure they’ll be great like all my other Thule items are! I mainly got these to use when I take the kayak on a road trip. That way if I stop, I know it’ll be secure with the locking straps, feet and of course the Hullavator! Again thanks Thule!
