Light and Works Well
For the price a great helmet. The one major drawback i find with this is that it only really protects from falling objects. There is no foam padding on the sides so falls resulting in you hitting your head against the side of a rock face may hurt a lot. other than that the tightening knob works well and I don't have any complaints about this helmet

Good protection from above
I bought this helmet online. Some of the reviews mentioned that the helmet rode a little high on the head and didn't cover much more than that. They were right! This helmet is designed to protect the top of the head and nothing more. I took it back to REI, they promptly gave me a refund, and then showed me other helmets. I ended up buying the Black Diamond Vector, which provides far more protection. Overall, if you're not worried about bashing the sides of your head whilst climbing and only want protection from threats above and don't mind looking like a conehead, this is a good helmet. If you want complete noggin protection, I suggest going with another helmet.

Light and Comfy

I bought this helmet to protect my dome while I work in trees as an arborist. The light weight and fit of the helmet make me totaly forget it's on. Unless I'm working upside down I don't even need to clip the chin strap. I got it in grey and it still stays fairly cool on summer days in Texas. The wheel in the back makes for easy adjustment for hats or beenies in the winter. I have been told I have a big head and the M/L fights with some room to spare. Plus it's cheeper then its Italian counter parts.

performed as expected!

i bought this helmet because my bike or snowboard helmet wouldn't cut it while rappelling in zion canyon, and i am very happy with its performance. i used it again when caving at lava beds. it did the job of protecting my head from the occasional bumps and scuffs, it worked great with my buff sweatband and petzl headlamp, and i look forward to getting it out in the wild again soon!

Great affordable helmet

Worked as I thought it would. The small/medium was more on the smaller side so I returned it and got a medium/large. I haved used it for ice climbing with a liner underneath and I am looking forward to using it in Redwing, MN in the coming weeks. While ice climbing, small chunks of ice fell on me while belaying. I have not put this thing to any hard tests, but I hope I never have to.

Good But Goofy

Bought this helmet after trying quite a few on over about a 6-month period. It was the most comfortable at this price point: fair amount of soft pads spaced evenly under the styrofoam and the dial-suspension is clutch. The balance is pretty good--you don't feel much weight. The headlamp clips are a little too short, but lock a standard ~1" elastic strap in in just fine. I intentionally didn't look at myself in a mirror prior to buying this because just about every helmet makes me look like a tool and I knew that would be too discouraging. Despite that, I was still shocked at just how high this helmet sits on my mellon (which is admittedly somewhat pointy). Made me realize that I have just about zero protection coming from anywhere but straight above, which is fine for falling rocks but leaves something to be desired for protection around the crown. Do an image search for people actually using this & you'll see what I mean. Anyway, I'd still recommend this one. It might save your life & is a clutch gopro mount if nothing else.

Nice Helmet, Great Design!

I have had the opportunity to use this helmet multiple times since I purchased it and so far it has been great. The only issue I have with it is that the helemt rests high on my head with well over an inch and a half between the top of my ear and the rim of the helmet. I am not sure if a larger size would offer more coverage of my head, but I would just have to try a larger size to see.

JUNK HELMET THAT WON'T LAST A YEAR

Bought one of these on 8/29/17. The inner lining came unglued from the plastic starting in July 2018, meaning this piece of junk didn't even last 12 months. I tried super-gluing it back in, that didn't work so I tried returning it only to have REI tell me I was a few days past the one-year return mark. So now I get to shell out for a completely new helmet after less than a year. THANKS, REI! I LOVE COLLECTING HELMETS!

Solid helmet

This is a solid helmet. I took it on a two day trip to Smith Rock and it performed beautifully. I didn't actually get hit by a rock, but it was very comfortable to wear (I actually forgot I had it on a few times). My one complaint would be that it scuffs easily (I put it down gently on a rock and there was a small scratch when I picked it back up). Great helmet for a great price.

Lightweight, tough, fits well.

I bought this to use on mountaineering trips and outdoor rock climbing. I've taken it on a couple mountaineering trips and I really liked it. It fits my head well, allows a lot of circulation of air and is very easily adjustable, something that other helmets aren't as good at. Very comfortable.
