Saved My Life
Had a rather large rock slam into my head. With the amount of force it hit with, I surely feel I would not be here if it wasn’t for this helmet. 10/10 recommend.

It was okay, but did the job.
It did its job as a helmet! It's an inexpensive model, as well, so if anyone is looking to save some money, this is good. However, I found it to be a bit uncomfortable for long periods (e.g. belaying someone after climbing myself) as it doesn't have padding on the inside. It also doesn't have the best ventilation for someone with a decent amount of hair. I ended up exchanging for the Petzl Boreo for the same price and am much happier.

Best looking helmet out there

The helmet has several good features. First, it looks great. It’s classic style sets it apart from some of the crazy looking helmets out there. It was a little more gray than I expected, but not complaining. The second is the adjustment wheel. This helmet fits my big head and my wife can wear it comfortably as well. Third, it has great ventilation. The putter shell is spaced from the foam insert and the head band. This allows some good airflow and sweat reduction. One of the down sides is that it scratches easy. I have lightly bumped my head several times and it’s getting some small scratches. For the price, you can’t go wrong.

Solid entry level helmet

Received free product

I have always climbed with a Petzl Elios helmet. The dial fit adjustment and headlamp strap clips are very solid features on both of these products. This model by Black Diamond is actually very similar without significant feature differences or upgrades, despite being sold many years after I purchased my first Elios. It definitely is not the lightest model on the market, but is very comfortable over multiple hours of continuous use. The straps do not rub or cause pressure when gazing upward while belaying. As it doesn’t appear that the Elios is being produced any longer, this model is actually a reasonable alternative for those who are looking for a replacement. I don’t have any significant deficiencies to point out on the helmet. It is available for a great price and performs exactly as advertised.

A Great Helmet

I have taken this thing everywhere, I love the light weight feel that makes me feel protected nonetheless. Definitely doesn't have all the features that the higher end helmets have but the boa in the back tightens to my head just fine, it has enough ventilation for me to hike with it on when doing scrambles and I take it climbing all the time.

BD Half Dome

The new version of the BD Half Dome helmet has changed in design from previous versions I have owned. My previous 2 versions I have been very happy with and the fit has been spot on. The new version I did not have the same luck with and had to return it. I had difficulty getting the adjustment right and the helmet ended up giving me 2 rub spots on my forehead that became very uncomfortable after wearing the helmet for several hours. My wif has the same model and does not seem to have the same issue so maybe it's just my head shape, not sure. I'd like to give the helmet a better rating but it just did not work well for me.

Light weight and Solid protection

I have used this helmet for over a year and have loved it. Packs easily and is light weight with a comfortable fit. The cut allows for good visibility and easily incorporates with my shells that are not BD brand as well as BD hoodies. As far as protection goes. I recently took a fall that I broke my pelvis on when I pendulumed at a weird angle into a block. Lazy protection on my part though an easy section, embarrassing but true. I also struck my head during the fall and this helmet undoubtedly saved me from a concussion or worse. I will be purchasing a replacement once the pelvis is ready to get back out there.

Safe & Stylish!

Received free product

I was really excited to get this helmet. I do a lot of climbing indoor and outdoor so to have some extra safety was really nice. I took it to idyllwild for the first time to break it in. Did a multi pitch up Tahquitz peak. Super lightweight and comfortable. Easy to manuever and climb with it on. I noticed for wearing it all day the padding is a little stiff and minimal but does a great job and looks cool. Holds your headlamp securely also, which is super rad.

Great all around helmet

Received free product

Perfect do it all helmet. Although I have only used it for sport and trad climbing, there's no doubt that it would perform well in other activities such as canyoneering or mountaineering. This helmet lacks a lot of ventilation holes compared to other helmets that I own, so breathability will be a concern in the hotter months. It's not the lightest helmet you can get but I don't think that's what this helmet is designed to be. Luckily, I haven't had to test it's impact protection, but it looks like it can take multiple smaller impacts. Headlamps easily attach on/off. Most importantly, this helmet was comfortable to wear, enough that I forgot I was wearing it. One improvement would be to increase the back of head protection.
