Rated 1 out of 5 by from try on first! These pants are so tight in the behind that I had to return them. I am very thin and my wife tells me I have "no butt." So you had better try them on before you buy them. Don't buy online.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally a fit! At 6'4" and 155 pounds, I expect I am in the one percentile in terms of height and weight. For the first time in my long life, it appears that I do have a butt and that my legs can actually be spotted in a pair of pants. These are the only REI pants that actually fit me well. Most of you who will read this just won't be able to understand. Because of the supply-demand principle, I am a very ignored consumer, so I am grateful for this one gift.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Bottoms Wore these for about a week in Olympic National Park in late September and they worked very well. They seemed lighter than I expected when they arrived, but this was an advantage when it got warmer than expected and worked well when combined with my base layer when the temperature dropped. The material also didn't seem to get to smelly after days of use, which can be a problem with some synthetic items. Also, as a taller person (6' 5"), it can be difficult to find bottoms that are long enough for me. I typically wear a 36" inseam, but the 34" option was plenty long for me.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from All that I wanted, except.... Way too small in the thigh and rear!!! Everything I was looking for and expecting from this brand, I was very excited to try these on. I'm 6'3" 190lb mtn. and road cyclist, I also trail run several times a week. Do not buy is you have developed quads or a skier butt, just won't fit!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I wish they came in more colors I am 6'2", 190 lbs and I think the Silver Ridge Convertible Pants fit me very well, but I can see how they could be too tight on guys with thicker legs and bigger butts. I use the pants for hiking, travel, and casual wear. The fabric is very light weight and can be worn comfortably on hot days. My only complaint; I wish they came in more colors.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 2nd pair of these pants! These pants are great! I had a gray pair and decided I needed a khaki pair as well. I wear these mostly for climbing but lately I have been wearing them to classes too. Living in Oregon I never know if I will get drenched on the way to class. Jeans always hold the water for a few hours and stick to my legs but when these pants get wet they are dry within minutes. I don't usually zip the legs off because the shorts show a little too much leg but other than that I love them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from comfortable and performs well I purchased these for a vacation in Yellowstone and the Tetons. I wore them almost everyday only needing to wash them weekly. Used while driving, rafting, hiking. Comfortable in all situations. Warm enough for cool evenings and mornings but not too hot in warm afternoons. Cut lower in the waist than I prefer and got hot in full sun (in car, for example) when there was no breeze.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good fit, Washes easily, Drys Quickly, Comfy I acquired these convertible pants for summer travel in humid climes. I wanted something cool, light, and quick drying. Fit – These pants fit me very nicely in the rear and thighs. It's so frustrating to try and find clothing that is not geared to the lowest common denominator. As soon as I saw other reviewers complaining of these pants being too tight in the thighs, I knew we had a winner here. So if you have a trim, “athletic” build, and you want an article of clothing that actually fits your body, you’ll want to take a serious look at this pair o’ pants. I purchased the 34” waist, and the sizing was right on. The waist height may be just a tad lower than average. I liked the lightweight plastic belt that came with it, if for no other reason it will ease getting through the TSA inquisition when flying. The makers should have added few more belt loops. At times I like to tighten the belt a bit more than usual. As is, this can slightly pull the belt up off the pants. Several more loops added in a few strategic locations would have addressed this problem. Earth, Wind, & Water – My first outing in these pants, a sort of trial-run, was on a sunny Spring afternoon (temp 75F, humidity about 70%, no wind) spent policing the rural road serving my home - picking up several trash bags full of miscellaneous items that for some inexplicable reason, passing drivers are unable to keep secured inside their vehicles. As you might guess, I got some bit of soil on the pants. Upon returning to the house, using the garden hose, I simply sprayed water on the pants (while still wearing them) and cleaned the dirt completely off. The pants were soaked, but I continued to wear them to see how fast they would dry without hanging them up. After about five minutes, I would say they were simply wet. Ten minutes more and they were but damp. After little more than a total of 25 minutes, they were pretty much dry. In my locale, normal drying times under such conditions for cotton pants, might often be calculated in days. Color – The “Gravel” has a bit more of a greenish tinge to it than the online picture(at least on my display) suggests. I like the actual color. Quality of materials and workmanship - The fabric and stitching seem at least adequate. I’ve found no faults with either after several days of wear. One thing I might mention here is the zippers on the legs seem a bit small and fiddly. I would have liked to have a slightly larger, beefier zippers here, but so far there have been no significant problems. Overall – These pants have proved cool, comfortable, and dry. Still a bit more $ than I would like to have paid for pants, but to get clothing this well-fitting, combined with functionality, provided for a very good value.
