My Canyon Hat
First trip to the Southwest national parks and warned to protect myself against the sun and heat. This hat fit the job perfectly! It was easy to fold into my backpack when not in use. Did not feel overly hot or sweaty wearing it. The special band that wraps around the inside rim of hat keeps it securely on your head without feeling too tight and the thin chin strap kept it from flying away when the canyon breezes blew too strong. I have fallen in love with our national parks and hope to see more in the near future and you can bet this hat will accompany me wherever I go. Be sure to try them on for the right size.

Maybe good for hiking
Well made but poorly designed. The brim only has a couple of lines of stitching and it is very floppy, especially when wet. When encountering a good breeze, such as on the beach or out on a river, the brim either flops up or down. When it flops up it provides no shade and when it flops down it blocks your vision. My kids each got the REI brand hats of the same style and they are much better all around. I would not buy this product again.

Perfect Palo Duro Canyon Hat 🏜!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These were the perfect sun protection for a Palo Duro Canyon State Park trip that my girlfriend and I recently took to hike The Lighthouse Trail. The 3" brim provides perfect full 360° coverage sun protection to your head, neck, and face. Having a large head, it's nice that these run large to avoid headaches from it fitting too tight and the rear cinch/stopper for proper fitment adjustments is a nice feature. The sweatband work great to avoid sweat stains. For cleaning, I place the hat in a laundry bag, wash on delicate, and then allow it to air dry out of the laundry bag. A great sun protection hat! 🏜 I

Don’t want to burn!

I love these hats. Packable, vented, lightweight, sun protection (not just because “shade” but also has UPF). I like the neck strap, and the simple cincher, that actually works in the wind. I got the tropic color (bright teal) which is my favorite color and I have worn it daily since. I love it. Functional and helpful. Fabulous.

Great for hot weather

I bought this for backpacking and camping in hot weather and it has been fantastic. I bought the Fossil color. The mesh around most of the hat definitely helps keep you cool. I also like that the brim is slightly wider than most bucket hats. But it is not too wide so it doesn't hit your backpack while hiking. It does roll up nicely to store in your pack when not needed and is very light. A strong wind will blow the brim up or down sometimes because it is lightweight. But that is kind of the point for me with this hat, to protect from sun while being as light as possible.

This hat is equally good for sun & bird poo protection ☔️

Great hat. Lightweight, cool, sun protection

I've had this hat for over a year now, and it's travelled with me to Yosemite several times, Kern River, Seattle, Disneyland and more. It provides excellent sun protection, and keeps your dome cool, thanks to the generous venting around the crown. It's super lightweight, packable, and dries out quick after getting wet. This is the best outdoor hat I've ever owned. Highly recommended.

A good choice

I bought this for a family trip to Florida. Since I have a rather small head I searched for one with adjustment. It does adjust well but when snugged small enough for me the brim takes on a wavy appearance. Unfortunately it makes a major dip in the front which I find a bit annoying for casual/travel wear. It folds and rolls well for packing and is lightweight so overall a good purchase. The wide brim does provide good shade.

Nice Hat

Good hat for the money. Cool and breathable in the AZ summer heat. I usually wear an XL hat and the typical X/XL size doesn't work for me. I was happy to find that this hat does. It's comfortable, light weight and not constricting. My only negative is that the brim tends to move a lot in windy conditions. Either flipped up or worse, flipped down over your eyes! Other than that, it's comfortable and washes up easily. Very pleased overall.

Not so great for me

It came crammed in a small box so the brim was creased and did seem to go back to normal. That is an REI issue and not Columbia. However, the brim has no stitching or other feature to make it stiff, so it flops down toward your ears and face. This is unlike other hats and my prior Columbia hat. I recommend a pass on this product and find one that is better made.
