Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great trail pedal As a MTB trail rider, I was looking for a reliable, durable pedal with a good platform cage around it. So I did a little bit of research before hand, and narrowed my choices to either these or the 424's. I went with these because I couldn't get over the idea of the plastic platform cages on the 424's. I couldn't be happier with these, and I'm honestly surprised nobody has reviewed these pedals up until now. These pedals offer excellent security, and an extremely reliable entry and exit (make sure you set proper tension first). The metal cages are more than capable of holding up to those times when your pedal just so happens to hit those hard places in the large rock gardens. The platform does not extend much further than the width of the latch mechanism, so you don't have to worry about scraping them when you're flying through the berms. Honestly, if you're looking for a great pedal and don't wanna break the bank, these are the ones to go with. Probably the best bang for the buck if you're looking for a good trail pedal with a platform.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile Pedals I had tried cleats with a one-sided hybrid pedal and didn't like it. I decided to go with dual entry. These work great, but it is important to adjust them. There is a screw on each side. The outer platform is not large, but works well when not cleated or when wearing regular shoes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product - very efficient I just switched to these pedals from an old pair that were a hybrid clipless / platform. My problem with those was clipping back in (the clip side would always be facing the wrong way) These are much more efficient and you get a lot of bang for your buck. Very easy to clip out and back in - even if you are stuck in the middle of a tough climb or descent. Although the more expensive XT or XTR versions are lighter, I don't think it is worth spending the extra 40-50 dollars. These are light and durable and work perfectly for the enduro / trail / and xc riding northern california has to offer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mountain Bike pedals No complaints with these pedals. They are on my trail mountain bike. I like the outer framing of the pedal when I have to come out of the clip and am struggling to clip back in, the framing provides more of a pedal under my foot until I can clip back in while tackling a climb or barreling down a section.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid and reliable Second pair. Adjustable release tension and easy in and out but secure hold. Only complaint is the weight but even the most expensive Shimano grail pedals are heavy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good first clipless pedal If you're new to clipless pedals, the SPD system is a good place to start. It works on "mountain" shoes and the cleat won't protrude from the shoe. This pedal allows you to adjust the tension so you can set the release to be very easy. I also recommend using the SH-56 multi-release cleat because it lets you come out of the pedal very easy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Expected more from these pedals Bought these pedals in April 2016. Not really sure how long the pedals are suppose to last. But, the pedals have much less than 1,000 miles and both pedals are clicking during cycling. If you tell me I need to perform maintenance on these pedals, that isn't going to happen. My road cycling style is medium to hard. I would not recommend Shimano M530 SPD Bike Pedals.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great pedal for the price. Pedals are great, function wonderful (been using spd’s for years) and perry light. Good price also.
