They're fine
I purchase the gear ties to tie the front wheel of my bicycle to the frame, so that it wouldn't roll away. A product called "flick stands" for bicycles are no longer made I don't think. Anyway, the 18" Gear Tie work "okay" on my Surly LHT, but I ended up buying a 24" Gear Tie to get a little extra length. I just purchased the 24" today, but it seems to work much better.
Extremely flexible uses
Bought this for a 6-week road & hiking trip to the northern half of Patagonia. Found myself constantly using these in a wide variety of ways throughout the entire trip. Hanging things, propping things up, tying bags, hooking things to my pack, etc. The 18" is definitely on the larger side. I went into an REI store to see the different sizes in person, and 18" seems to be when Nite Ize's gear ties get a sturdy feeling. They seem a bit thin and wiry below 18", but I'll probably try the smaller ones in the future as well. For what they are, they could be cheaper, but if you're looking for a multi-use simple tool to keep around your car and whatnot, one of these is nice to have.
The Best!!!
I got my first set at the Modern Marine Expo at Quantico several years ago. Since then I have used them to hold down four 25# weights that hold down my vendor tent at several different farmers markets. They work better than just about anything that I have tried before.
Not Long Lasting
Bought these to thwart the animals from getting to my bird suet and the coating is chipping away
Handy
I stumbled upon these at my local REI one day and bought them to carry extra "stuff" on my bike that doesn't fit in my seat bag or jersey pockets. I have strapped my full finger gloves & ear band to my bars when it got too warm to use them. Being coated in rubber, they work great. I don't know if that was the intended use for them but they work great for me. And they're cheap!
Amazingly Versatile and Hardy
These little ties come in all sizes but not shapes. Amazingly, their inner metal structure allows for very secure bindings of things like ropes and wires. Allows you to get rid of all those rubber bands and little bread bag twist ties. If only they would make them in slightly larger sizes, it would be able to help strap different equipment onto backpacks or boats.
Awesomely handy
These little gear ties are fantastic - I use them to keep long coils of rope manageable. I honestly don't know what they're made of, but they are really strong-- I can wrap one around a 40-foot 3-inch-wide towing strap, and it prevents the strap from falling out of its coil. It's like a twist-tie on steroids.
Perfect for Attaching Shade Cloth
Bought the GearTie Original 32 inch x 2 pack at Lowes and cut them into 2.5 inch lengths to attach shade cloth to the interior of my FarmTek 12 x 16 greenhouse. They fit perfectly into the rail slots (where the bolts usually go) and the ribbed outside and wire interior made them hold fast. I can pull on the shade cloth and they pop right out when I want to roll back the shade cloth. No more problems with wind, tears , sagging or using bolts to hold the cloth in place. Will buy more for their intended use too.
Great tie
Have you noticed that when you buy new electronics they now ship with a one-time use twisty tie that breaks the moment you untie them? The Nite Ize Gear Ties are great for all kinds of wires and I have never had one wear out. I keep these in all kinds of sizes and I recently purchased the large ones when I saw an online video showing how they can be used to attach items, like an axe, to Molle webbing on military style backpacks and bags.
These are the best cable tie's that I have ever purchased. I
These are the best cable tie's that I have ever purchased. I knew something was up when the display case only had one set left, so I bought it and I'm glad I did. I like the fact that they don't scracth your wooden furniture. Because this product is so good, everybody is buying them and they are in short supply around here. My next purchase will be from your website, to make sure that I get what I need. Once again a very great product!
