Big fan of the Club Shoe Covers
I needed something I could keep in my bag at all times for unexpected (or expected) rain/sleet on my commute. I was elated to find these after a long time of looking. They are light, fold up to a small package, and have seen me through driving rain with no problem. Much better than the plastic bags I was using. I even use them to cover my feet when it's below 30 and windy just for wind protection. I have treated them gingerly, walking on them as little as possible. Only problem I had was with the zipper, which broke becuase I had to pull on it fairly hard to get it over my size 13 hiking boots. But Showers Pass replaced them without a problem. They do exactly what I wanted them to do so I'm thrilled with them.
Bottom tears easily
Like many of the other commenters, I'm also in the Pac Northwest and bought these to use on my daily commute. They do keep my socks and shoes dry when riding in rain and through puddles. When used in combination with my Marmot rainpants, I arrive at work very comfortable. After 2 weeks, however, I noticed that the treads on my pedals had torn small holes in the soles of these booties. I've used shoe goo to keep them going, which turned out to be more durable than the original material. Nonetheless, I'm looking for something that does the job right the first time out of the box.
Not impressed
It may be that my expectations were too high, but I'm very disappointed with these shoe covers. I've heard such great things about the company, but they certainly struck out here. As one reviewer stated, the worst thing about the covers is that they don't stay up. I've tried to use Velcro straps (doesn't work too well) and packing tape (huge pain, and I look like a wing nut) to keep them up. Yes, they keep your shoes dry, but at a great cost. Additionally, the foot bed is made of a thin material that I suspect wouldn't last long if I were to walk anywhere with the covers on. I poked holes through the material simply by clipping in (on the good side, you can actually clip in through the foot bed, so no need to cut a cleat hole). In short, not worth the money, or the aggravation.
Does the job, but super poor durability
To start off, the product does keep your feet dry. It's like a rain jacket for your shoes. The material is not neoprene or rubbery but is waterproof cloth. But is having rainpant-like material covering your shoes going to hold up as you walk? No, it's going to get scratched and ripped if your not super careful. I used this product on a rainy 2 month tour from Anchorage to San Francisco and used it quite a bit. I loved how it kept my feet dry when others using neoprene shoe covers got soaked. However, the ShowersPass shoe covers ripped on occasion during my trip and consequently I duct-taped the holes. I wear a size 12 Shimano MTB shoe with a large shoe cover and it doesn't fit snug enough to keep the heel of the shoecover from coming in contact with the pavement. Thus, I walked on my toes when I had these on so that the back zipper was spared. If you use these on a commute then they might be acceptable, but definitely won't hold up for any length of time on a tour. But they did keep my feet dry! If they sold them for $10 dollars it would be worth it because I view them as disposable quality.
Not for SPD Shoes
This product was great keeping my shoes dry in the wet conditions of the Pacific NW biking to work. However, since I use SPD shoes, I had to cut a hole on the sole to accommodate for the clip. It's hard to cut the perfect hole. The shoe cover moves so it's hard to clip back in and out because the hole on the cover gets misaligned to the cleats on the shoe. It gets nerve-racking when your shoe cover gets stock on the pedal and you can't dismantle in an intersection. I am returning this shoe covers. I heard from a friend that this shoe covers works great if you don't have to cut a hole at the bottom.
Dry but not durable
I commute and use them for rainy days. They're compact, fit easily in my trunk bag, and keep my shoes dry, but they are not durable. I've patched them once and they are frayed at the seams. The fit seems to be tight, which might contribute to the wear, but according to the size chart, my 8 1/2 shoe is well within the size range for small. I bought new show covers at a motorcycle store, which were less expensive and which seem like they will be much more durable.
They're just covers and they do the job
These are shoe covers -- you can't expect much! They cover your shoe. They won't look stylish, and they are not meant to walk around in. I gave them 4 stars because I'm actually surprised by their durability and they are very waterproof and windproof. Could they be better? Of course. Do I expect them to be? No. Fit info: I wear a large to cover a men's 12 hiking shoe. It probably couldn't fit anything larger.
Not up to Showers Pass standards
I really like this brand, but they got this product wrong. These things are cheap, don't stay up, leaks in the back, and rip pretty quickly. I think the worst part is that they don't stay up. They need some sort of spine running along with the zipper to keep them up. Pretty disappointed becuase I really like my jacket and pants from Showers Pass.
cheap, functional
I love riding and working on bikes, and commute by bicycle rain or shine (mostly rain here in seattle), but HATE having to go all 'tour de france' just to ride to work in the morning. I prefer to toss on rain gear over whatever I'm wearing, so I bought these shoe covers to put on over my regular shoes- I did not cut out any holes for cleats in the soles and have no intention of doing so. They definitely get the job done- the waterproofing is good and they seem to be at least as durable as the covers meant to go over bike shoes. They also fold down nice and small to fit into a bag when they're not needed. My chief complaint is that they're floppy, not necessarily in the length, but in the height/volume, like they were designed to go over boots rather than shoes. They also definitely need to be worn UNDER rain pants because the elastic at the top is not tight enough to keep water out if you tuck pants into them.
OK, but fit is an issue
I cycle commute year-round and got these to replace my old burleys. I had a hard time getting these to fit over my street shoes. I ended up getting the XL which are too long for me, but almost wide enough. That makes them all the more clumsy to walk in. I haven't had them a year and have already worn holes in them from rubbing on the crank arms.
