Great for price
Got these on sale, fit great for a 44 shoe, works well for mild to moderate cold, light rain.
Perfect for me but size chart is off
Nice looking thin wind blocking material. Exactly what I was looking for and work well for my early morning rides with temps in the 40’s and 50’s. As of this writing the size chart says womens 8-11 for S/M. I wear a 6.5 and these are pretty snug. The material doesn’t stretch a lot so I’d imagine these would be a struggle for anyone with a larger foot. Works perfect for me though!
Good if you have sane expectations
You're expectations should start and end with the fact that this is a $15 piece of light stretchy fabric. For the price these are good for a little extra wind and light rain protection. Relying on these alone for anything more than that is user error, in my opinion. I use them on cool and damp morning commutes, or in conjunction with heavier wool socks for worse weather and will say they're a nice additional layer. They're also clearly described as ROAD SHOE covers. No, they will probably not fit over bulkier shoes. The largest size barely fits over my X-Alp Canyon gravel/MTB shoes, but I knew that would be the case going in and am not going to ding them for my own misuse of the product.
Don't buy these!
Bought these toe covers to replace a pair of neoprene ones. As all the reviews mention, these run small! I purchased a size S/M as I'm in women's size 6.5, and it was torture trying to put these over my bike shoes. The material is very thin and not very elastic. Thermally, they performed ok. My toes were not frozen over a 30 minute commute at 29 degree F, but I could tell they did not keep my feet as warm as my old neoprene ones. Even if I had the foresight to order the next size up, I wouldn't get these. They are not easy to put on, material feels thin, and there are alternative products out there that can keep your toes warm at this price point.
Tight fit and holes in them after 1 ride
First these are super undersized. I purchased the XL and they were pretty tough to get on. I wore these for one ride and they already started to form holes in the top of the toe box. On the ride I put my foot down maybe 10 times and walked in them for a total of less than 5 minutes. I know this style shoe cover are fragile but these are almost disposable.
Poor fit on bulkier shoes, not very warm.
I bought the XL covers, which I think was the largest size. I wear a US men's size 10.5 or EU size 45. I put the XL covers on Shimano SH-CT500-S lace up bike shoes with SPD cleats. These are my winter shoes and are fairly warm. The XL covers are too small for my shoes, they bind in the clip. I have tried placing them on the shoes different ways and the cleat always binds. When I put the covers on a pair of Shimano SH-ME200-S shoes that are a more traditional bike shoe, the XL's fit well. I really don't think they add much warmth. On a 40 degree day, my feet were cold by the end of my 1 hour commute. I'm normally a big fan of Pearl Izumi gear, but even if they fit, I don't think they provide much warmth.
Does the job for a great price
After freezing my toes on a cold November morning, I decided to get some shoe covers. And whadaya know, these were on sale! They fit my size 12.5 Sidi's with no problem and they kept my toes warm on a 40 degree ride today. I figure they will be good down to 35 or so. So, 15 bucks to save my toes? A total deal!
Too small...
I purchased these to replace a pair that I had used for many years and had worn out. I purchased the same size (S/M), and I could not get them on my shoes. I had to go back to my old toe covers, which easily fit on my shoes. Order a larger size than indicated by the size guide.
Perfect Temp toes
Insulates well, keeps your feet warm in the lower temps (I have mesh shoes) and have just kept them on in higher heats and haven't felt that they get too hot. No more cold toes!!
A decent (lower price) option
I read the other reviews of this product and wouldn't have bought them based on just that. Two things changed my mind - They were on a 25% off sale and I went to my local REI shop and tried them on. Then I snatched them up! The positives - it took some work, but the L/XL size did fit on my size 44 Bontrager Mountain Shoes (a hefty shoe). My plan for the cooler months (I bought them in May) is to put them on and leave them there. Be aware that the AmFIB's temperature rating (from Pearl Izumi) is 45-65 deg F). Who would wear them at 65 is beyond me, but I plan to use them from 30-50. The construction looks amazingly solid for something at this price. Sticthing is good with reinforced seems. When it rains or gets really cold, I'll yank on my booties instead as these are definitely not a replacement for booties. Yes, the other booties listed on the REI website are likely better, but they were also more than twice the price of the on-sale AmFIBs. If it fits your need, then this could be a great choice at a reasonable price. I'll look forward to checking out the "real" cold tolerance when the cold weather rolls in.
