OMG - I'm in Chef Heaven
This is the most versitile light weight kit I've ever come across. Short of providing the Kitchen Sink it includes everything I could possibly need to cook for me and my camping buddies. You can easily handle meals for 10 people with everything this kit provides (though if your cooking for more then a weekend trip for this many people you may need more shakers, The Chefs Knife etc.). And when I mean cooking - I mean cooking! Chicken Supreme with Rice, Runner Beans, Peas, Sweetcorn. Or how about a nice Cheese, Bacon, Onion and Potato Omelette to start the morning? Arriving at or departing from basecamp has never felt more better then when you have good food made with good equipment built to last.
Only mistake MSR purchase we have made
We have many other MSR products we love. This - not so much. Have taken it on two car camping trips and the only piece of the set we will be using ever again is the small knife. I may keep the cutting board around as a back-up, but It's pretty small so we will see how long for. None of the other pieces worked for our usual cooking and washing up needs. The soap bottles clogged. The towel shrank after two washes. The spatula melted on the first use, and the strainer/ grater broke on the first use. The bulky case takes up way too much room in our camp totes, and the zippered compartments are really tough to get things into and out of. The kit seems confused about it's own purpose, as it falls somewhere between backpacking and car camping so does neither well. Just a mistake purchase for us.
Great Set
Awesome components. This is all I need for car camping. The carrying case is thick and protective—even a little bulky. It will fit a few other small kitchen accessories or spices/sauces. It's nice to have everything in one place, especially for car camping. Though, I wouldn't take the case into the backcountry, even on short hikes because of its weight. I just take whatever items I need and put them in a smaller mesh bag. The knife is sharp, so be careful!
Great complete set
I've owned this set for a couple of years now & love it. Gone are the days of turning up somewhere, making camp and realising that I've forgotten to bring something, having previously raided my own kitchen for things. The set holds everything from knife & chopping board to cheese graters salt & pepper & useful bottles for oil & washing liquid. These items are all space saving items meaning your carrying less stuff in one robust case. Highly recommended.

I love the size. The look is great… And every component, included, you’ll use….And, ENJOY USING!!! Get out there, this Summer!! This is my go to, mobile/or minimal camping…(it’s a cool kit!! You’re doing more than boiling bags, hopefully…if not? Your stil covered….) I’ve been waiting, too long , to make this purchase…Glad I don’t wait, when asked to come to the park(the….National parks…wink…..)
The French Laundry meets backcountry dining
Perhaps my title is a little over the top, but so is the Alpine Deluxe Kitchen Set. This is said in a positive manner. Being an avid cook at home it is so nice to have a self contained kit that facilitates delectable meals while being out in the bush. There is nothing like freshly grated parmesan . Albeit the corkscrew the corkscrew unfortunately has not been used all that often.
Good set of utensils. Overall
Good set of utensils. Overall heavier than I expected. I contribute the extra weight more to the case than to the utensils which are light. That being said, I appreciate the case when car camping. Makes it easy to pack and get tucked away. If I use it backpacking will leave the case at home and just take the utensils.
Gourmet in the backcountry!!!
Our outdoor adventure program bought several of kitchen sets and the kids love them. It allowed us to pack light while giving the students all they needed to cook their gourmet meals while on our trips. Strong, well made cooking utensils and storage for all your other essentials allow you have a great, hot meal.
Very compact and sturdy
As a professional chef and culinary teacher, I was looking for a kitchen set that was compact, yet sturdy. We have used the tools at personal camps and when feeding large groups a scouting camps. I highly recommend the quality, and the price can't be beat, I only wish that I had purchased the larger set.
Great for just moved in or travel light
I have used this as my kitchen set when I moved out of the family home and had no kitchen utensils and it shone by far, nice and simple with loads of versatile kit and with a few additions its now used out when I go camping or to the bothe. Awesome kitchen set with everything you need bar the sink.
