Underdone or overdone? I'm thinking deliziosoa, delicious. Lots of seasonings and white cheese sauce with noodles and chicken. Yum.

This didn't live up to my expectations based on other reviews and claims on the package. The sauce didn't have a good flavor and I think the whole thing was thrown off by the inclusion of the bell peppers. I was able to eat enough to sustain myself but ended up burying most of it.

Easy to cook, looks and tastes good

We're trying different dry meals in preparation for an backpacking trip, I'm pretty confident we found dinner for at least one night. The packaging is sturdy. I feel like it'd survive being packed into a bear bag with other objects. It lies surprisingly flat, about the same thickness as a padded manila envelope. The pouch stands upright on a flat surface and didn't warp or bend dramatically when the water is added. The opening stayed wide long enough to empty the pot of water into it without having to aim too precisely. The zip lock seals/reseals without any issue. The result looks surprisingly delectable for a meal from a bag. It's probably not as good as your home-cooked version but it'll probably taste wonderful after a long day. Glad we chose this flavor and brand, we're excited to sample more of their options! Still, it's not free from the consequences of all packaged meals; you'll have two to three pieces of trash which you need to secure and pack out. The oxygen absorber, the main pouch and (if you rip it entirely off) the tab you rip off to open the pouch. Since the pouch stores and cooks the meal, it'll retain bits and residue. But those are all caveats for any meal like this and you should prepare to pack out trash anyways, so no stars deducted. Overall, we'd eat it again on the trail.

On a trail this is five star fettuccini

Package was delivered to the house while we were out of town on a camping trip so I wasn’t able to cook this in the wild, so I cooked it at home. Instructions to cook are spot on so follow rehydration water measurements as they are set to 5000ft elevation. Cooked the first bag using the water measurement on the back ( my mistake) and it came out watery. Went and bought a second bag a day later and according to my elevation Of 303ft above sea level I should have used about half of the water stated on the bag and it came out perfect. Taste is good, better than the mre’s that we took out camping.

Does the trick

Tried this in a “controlled” setting in case I needed something else. This item actually had good flavor and would get more of these for hikes or even as a 911 supply. One can definitely taste the dried bell peppers which can be over whelming. Perhaps mfg should use maybe 25-50% less. Otherwise, the taste was good. Maybe i missed it or trashed it. But I didn’t see the best before date as I have on other similar dehyrdrated products. Directions are for 5,000’. I tried this at <300. Says to use 1.5c (8min, stir wait add’l 7min)… I think 1.75 maybe even 2 would be better (personally thinking). Note that every additional 5,000’ dbl hydration time.

Quick and great flavor!

Been using backpacker's pantry for years and their products are always on point. First time trying this flavor/product but killer flavor. I always add some spice to mine but even regular straight out of the package it's good. Make sure to mix up the juices well or the chxn wont rehydrate well enough but that's about the only complaint. Package does say 2 servings, but I'm 6'3" and 205lbs and I can kill the whole thing if I'm pretty hungry

Satisfying after a long day of hiking

Definitely satisfied my backpacking meal requirements of being hearty and filling! We usually find that a 2-serving bag feeds one adult after a day of hiking, and this was true here. As is typical for freeze dried meat, the chicken texture was a little tough even after taking extra time (beyond the recommended 15 minutes for elevations below 5000 feet) for reconstituting. But no unwanted crunchies when we followed the packet timing instructions. The peppers were a nice touch to give some pops of flavor. The sauce comes out on the watery side if you use the recommended amount of boiling water, but at least it dissolves all of the powder.

Hit the spot

I was looking for a low sodium meal when I bought this product. The printed instructions were easy to follow and we enjoyed with a tasty hot meal. The packaged meal was enough for two adults. It's not the best tasting meal available, but what is? One must bring their personal food supplement to enhance the store bought product. This packaged meal product is good enough to start with. We did not bring anything to add to this meal, but it did hit and satisfy our hunger. Best of all it did not have a strong salty taste. I would buy this again.

Easy to make, tastes good but a little bland

The amount is average for one person, satisfying but not over-filling or leaving you hungry. The rehydration worked well and there was barely any water left at the bottom. The bag is strong and thick enough with no danger of piercing it with a fork by mistake. The taste was a little bland, with too much bell pepper and too little Alfredo sauce in my opinion. Eating from the bag, the top part was very bland, but the taste improved further down. I think the spices dissolved in the water and pooled at the bottom, even though I stirred according to the instructions. I recommend stirring very, very well to distribute the flavor evenly.

This is a winner

I picked one of these up at the REI in Sandy, UT on my way up to Kings Peak, UT. I thought this meal was great (keep in mind it's freeze dried, haha) and of course easy to prepare. This meal is top 3 of the freeze dried meals I've had. I like that the clear bottom is integrated into the packaging making it easy to make sure you got a thorough stirring job when mixing in your boiling water. The cook time wasn't bad at 10,000 feet, and was a perfect dinner for the night before my summit.

A Lightweight Fettuccini

I packed this meal for a 2 day backpacking trip. After hiking 5.5 miles in 3 hours with roughly 1,500 feet of elevation gain, I was pretty hungry so I decided to cook this dehydrated meal. I gave this meal 5 stars because it was tasty, the instructions were accurate, and I was hungry. However, I felt that it wasn’t very flavorful ( it did have some much needed salt). Additionally, I was still hungry after finishing the bag. So I guess if you’re planning on doing a weekend trip and really need to pack in the calories, then I’d recommend a different dehydrated meal. (This was not the only food I packed for my trip, but I was hoping to get a little more out of it).
