Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy But Not So I bought the whole set this the bars & footing. The instructions were not the greatest in the world. I had to tinker with it to realize that the adjustments came down far enough to fit my car the right way. But once I figured that out and got it all set it sits very firm and tight. You can shake it and the only thing you are going to move is the car. I put a car top carrier on top of it and the brand I got sits up there nice. It was very expenceive but worth the money. If you are thinking about it getting this and this is your first roof rack system you are going to be in for a shook as far as price but like I said well worth it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product; frustrating to install This was a frustrating product to install. The instructions were AWFUL. I figured out more by just tinkering with it. The most difficult part was getting all the "feet" even and flush with the car (there is a small lip on the roof of my car that the rubber pad kept slipping over). Once installed correctly, it is rock solid. You can shake the whole car and it won't budge. I'm confident that it won't go flying off my car on the freeway. I also purchased the fairing, which really reduces the wind noise and drag. I would recommend that along with this product becasuse the square bars can get pretty noisy from what I understand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gets the Job Done; Durable I've used this foot pack on my Ford Fiesta hatchback for two years now with frequent use and through a variety of weather conditions. In combination with the stacker and square bars, this has enabled me to turn my little car into an efficient kayak transport. I love it. Installation was intimidating to me at first since I had never put after market racks on my car before. The instructions were clear but I was still nervous I would mess it up. I didn't (mess it up) and haven't had to adjust anything since installation. Even more, the product has been kind to my car. Bottom line, I'd buy these again if I ever had to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thule does it again! Good stuff! I have used Thule products in the past and as usual, I'm not at all disappointed. Top notch quality, nothing is flimsy about this rack. Very well constructed and VERY easy to install. It has to be easy to install because the instructions are a complete joke! Really a non issue though because it doesn't take much more than common sense to put this thing on. It really almost just fits together like magic. It took me longer to get it out of the boxes than put it on my car. First drive was without the fairing, ran out of time before my evening plans and it was crazy loud with the square load bars above 40MPH. Sounded like a medium sized tornado was happening on my roof. Got home that night and installed the fairing, next day... like nothing was even up there! Works like a charm. And as usual with almost all of their products, this thing just flat out looks good.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Thule Traverse Foot Pack This roof rack system is very difficult to install perfectly. I bought this rack to transport a kayak from NC to MI over the summer and wanted to leave it on my car for those three months. After re-installing it several times and going to a bike store for additional help, I was able to get it a lit closer to the way it should have been, but I still had issues with rainwater leaking in and high wind noise. The entire trip to MI sounded like a window was open... Needless to say the rack was returned in August and the kayak transported on a different system my parents have been using for years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blown away at the quality! I originally tried the tower/bar system from the other major rack company and I found that it did not fit too well on my car. So I decided to give the Thule rack system a try and boy am I glad I did. Even though the instructions were cryptic and had no words at all, installation was simple. The fit kit was perfect for my car and it literally is absolutely perfect. I truly don't think that the Thule rack system should even be in the same class as their competitor's offering. The Thule system provides a complete car-specific system that is custom tailored to your vehicle. The other racks available from other brands are more of a universal fit and are made to fit many vehicles. I could not be happier with this purchase!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Thule support was last straw I've been faithful to Thule for about 20 years. That ended with Thule's recent line of Traverse 480 footpads. They are designed so that you need a "fit kit" for your specific car. I should've stopped right there[...] But I decided to give it a swing. Long story short: the mess with the fit kit left the rack feeling a bit unsteady. Even worse, trying to get a Thule rep on the phone took a minimum of 40 minutes. Waiting for an email response? Good luck. So I went with the much simpler and sturdy Yakima Q system. Thule really blew it on this one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy install These were real easy to install and inspire confidence. I was a little skeptical because they are held on to the car with a clip in the door jam. I was worried they would scar the car. But after putting them on they were super stable, nice big footprint, and the rubber coating on the clip inspires confidence it won't mar your vehicle. The problem is that the Thule instructions have you install them fairly far forward on the vehicle, Honda Pilot in my case. Only 10inches from the windshield. When you place a cargo box up there it sticks out over the windshield significantly and that's a real wind drag. I ended up switching to a Yakima rack because it was mounted farther back but I do feel that these mounted with much more confidence then the Yamkima towers.

Is this system easy on and off? or best left on roof once installed?

Asked by: 13thMonkey
Once you have initially mounted the rack to your vehicle it is easy to take it off. You simply release the tension of each tower and remove. Mounting the product again is not difficult since you already have a sense of how and where to mount the rack properly. You may also choose to keep the rack on your vehicle full-time.

The Thule site shares that I need Fit Kit 1482 for the Traverse 480 feet. I don't see it listed as an option above. Am I looking in the wrong place?

Asked by: Laurie E
The Thule Traverse fit kits are under two item numbers - 799939 and 799940. Fit kit 1482 is under 799940. In the "Choose Your Color/Size" drop down box, look for 1482. Note that the fit kit numbers are not in numeric order, so a little searching is needed.

I'm trying to use the same Thule system I had on my 2014 RX350 to transport my Kayak. The Lexus 2016 RX350 roof bars are flush with the roof. What does Thule have that holds the rectangular bars from my 2014 Lexus Rx350 to the flush bars on the 2016?

Hello can anybody let me know is this cross bars will fit an F56 MINI cooper S hardtop WITHOUT the roofrail option. I'm a salesperson and I have a guest that needs to put a paddle board. Thanks you very much.

A fit cannot be determined without more information about the car, including model year. The best way to determine a rack fit is to use the Thule Fit Guide, accessible through this page: If a fit cannot be determined using the Fit Guide, you should consult directly with Thule.
