Knife not for Leftie
I have 3 of these and for the most part they are great to use…. until I need to cut or spread something. And then I realize how silly it is that the knife has such a significant curve in it that it makes cutting or spreading so awkward. I also agree with others who commented on the poor design of the pouch they come in. Either it won't close because everything is in it or it won't hold everything because one piece is not in it. Because I mainly use the chopsticks and the spoon and find those 2 very useful and the entire thing quite light, I am basically happy with the product. I just can't believe there wasn't a single leftie on the design team to stop them from making it only comfortable for righties.
Needed to sand down the edges
I liked the look and concept so I plunged into this purchase. The fork tines were un-usable as purchased since they were so sharp. This was also the case with the spoon. Too big and unwieldy to safely get in and out of my mouth without worry over the sharp edges. I'm surprised I don't see this comment elsewhere on the www. So, I keep these at my work desk and I use them a lot. Almost daily. I do recommend their purchase and use, I just think you need to purchase sandpaper to go along with it. I offer my sanding services to those who are unwilling. :) (just kidding)
great for travelling and backpacking
I use this for backpacking and I love it. I leave out the knife and case for weight purposes (its only good for speading PBandJ, and we always carry a leatherman or equivalent). It is gentle on cookware, very light, and lasts pretty well. I am buying a replacement set after my spoon got eaten by a mongoose b/c I left it out at the campsite with peanut butter remnants on it. Oops, lesson learned. Dont feed the wildlife with your bamboo spoon.
Finish Wears Off
I like these, but when I took them on a road trip used them as my only utensils for 9 weeks I used the spoon so much the finish wore off the edges. It started to get rough like unfinished wood and the edges hurt my mouth. I like how light they are and I like how they look, and I'm sure they'd be fine for short trips or occasional use but they're not so good for intensive use over long periods of time. Still, I think I prefer them to the annoying plastic sporks.
Perfect Set
I got two of these sets one for me and one for my girlfriend. We use them with our lunches and they are great! The pouch is slim and fits well in a tight location. It came with a carabiner to secure to your lunch bag to save space which is nice. They are very solid utensils and extremely smooth. All are a good size and very easy to clean. I will be getting more for my trekking pack as well.
sustainable
The fork is better than any spork out there. Great for cans of tuna. They clean well and do not hold odor. They do not scrape metal in an irritating way. Best non-plastic product out there!
Love them
I’m weirded out by germs and the pandemic is not making it any easier. I bought these for car camping and find that I bring them with me a lot for eating outside instead of plastic. They are super sturdy and come with a covered soft case that has a small clip attached, which I used for attaching it to my basket.
Lightweight, feel nice, a bit pricey
These feel nice in the hand, work well, though don't expect the knife to cut as well as a steel blade. Overall I like the concept, like the feel, would like them a whole lot more about 2/3 the price.
Super
Over time the spoon becomes rough from wearing down the material. Doesn't retain smells of food very well as a wooden material...a plus with tuna and pasta. Strong and durable. Chop Stix feel great in hand...a must for couscous. Knife can cut cheese...slice at the least. Light weight. Doesn't scratch bottom of pot...keeps nonstick surface clean from damage. A sustainable product... I'm a happy camper.
Mostly great
I love this set and use it every single day (thanks H!). Really. I travel for work and am bombarded with plastic and Styrofoam containers and utensils. These are attractive enough to use in regular civilization -- the chopsticks even have decorative twist at the end -- and durable and easy-to-clean enough to use everyday and in less-developed environments. I have taken them camping, schlepped them to three other continents, stuck them in dishwashers and microwaves, and washed them with camping laundry soap. I've not had a problem with odors, stains, or the finish. The knife is not sharp at all -- it will not "cut a salami log" as a reviewer stated about another brand. And I've lost the spoon -- left in a hotel and housekeeping threw it away. The pouch is really nice and the freebie mini-carabiner is nice too, but the utensils do not have individual attachment points. The pouch is snug enough with all the utensils for inside a pack, but I wouldn't put it on the outside ever. And after losing the spoon, the pouch is not snug enough and my chopsticks keep falling out. I've got a temporary replacement with a regular metal spoon -- it hurts the aesthetics but is otherwise the same. I would prefer a zipper pouch or a way to attach each utensil with the pouch to the carabiner -- I shall be making my own of the former.
