Rated 3 out of 5 by from Solid but odd shape for panniers I bought this rack to use on a new 29er "urban" bike. I've had it for a few weeks now and have used it for several commutes (20+ miles round trip) and various errands. It's a solid rack, pretty easy to install, even with disc brakes. And it seems quite stable with a pretty heavy load (and I carry only one pannier, so the weight is all on one side, but it's still stable). But I do have one complaint. The top tubes, the ones you hang the panniers on, are curved inward toward the front of the rack. This limits how you can adjust and mount a pannier. The further forward you place a pannier hook, the more the pannier needs to be able to bend with the rack tube. Most good panniers have a pretty rigid frame that the hooks attach to. This is true for my Ortlieb Backrollers. So the rack limits how far foward I can place a hook and the pannier. I see this as a major limitation because I have plenty of heal clearance and would like to move the load forward more for a better ride. Not possible on this rack.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fits 97% of Bicycles I was looking for a disc rack that would fit a 29er hard tail type bicycle. Planet Bike claims this rack "fits 97% of all mountain and road/hybrid frames." I must be close to the 3% as I needed larger seatstay brackets and had to extend the front mount farther forward by drilling a new hole to make the rack level. Overall this is a great rack!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still good after several years I had the bike rack for four years and mounted on my mountain bike. I mount the panniers on it and works very well. I have never had any problem with the bike rack and I enjoy using it. There is some wear and tear, as expected, when I commute to work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very strong and stable I found the rack to be oddly strong and stable. It's rated for 25 kilos, but I can sit on the rack and roll around without it bending or flexing. Maybe an 80k load on a real ride would break the rack, but that would be a lot for any rack, rear wheel or rider. One minor downfall is the oversized tubing, which probably adds to the sturdiness. I couldn't fit the Novara panniers in a local REI because their attachment wouldn't fit around the tubing. I'm sure another brand may work just fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to install. Versatile. This is easy to install. Adequate hardware is provided. One minor glitch is that one of the screw head stripped during the installation process. Rack is light but felt steady when installed. Price is reasonable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome rack especially for the money! Bought this rack after looking at some of the more expensive racks and wondering why they were more money. This rack has a lot of adjustability, fit really great over the fenders on my touring bike and gave lots of clearance for the disc brakes, and also gives a perfect spot to mount a real taillight where cars can actually see it when you've got a full load on. As mentioned it is really strong and doesn't wiggle or shift around at all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Doesn't fit 29'er It seems sturdy and was wide enough for my 29'er Trek X Caliber 4, but the arms did not reach far enough to attach to the seat. It also only had about 1 inch of clearance over the wheel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hiking, biking, camping I bought some biking accessories a couple a weeks ago, the items i wished to look at were not on display. I did get some help and the individual found them in back.

Is this rear rack compatible with a 26" Mongoose Beast fat tire bike? My bike is basic - no gears and it has back-pedal (coaster) brakes. My main concern is whether the arms on the rack are wide enough to fit around the fat tire. Thanks in advance!

We have not received any feedback stating that the Novara panniers will not work with the Versa Rear Bike Rack. They should work just fine. The rack uses 10mm tubing. The KlickFix and Vertex clips on Novara panniers measure 12mm in width.
