Rated 5 out of 5 by from An expedition pack for sailors I've had this pack for four years and have used it exclusively for long sailing trips. In that context it's been great. It's been badly handled by baggage handlers at airports, dropped on hard surfaces, and generally used roughly and has stood up to it all. I don't go out of my way to mishandle it but in all that time lugging gear around has been made much easier with this pack. It's far bigger than I use for regular racing trips, so I don't use it often. When I do though, I've been pleased with how well designed the shoulder and waist straps are and how easy it is to cinch down when not fully loaded.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One tough bag!!! Bought this bag thinking it would be another yuppy design flop that would fall apart at the seams when put into the "real outdoors". Man, was I wrong. I took this on a fishing trip and was downright brutal on the thing. Scraped it on rocks, thrown through the brush, loaded 100+ lbs of salmon in it at a time and not even a wimper hiking up the trail. The straps and stitching all held up, and still was water tight. Rinsed out the fish guts and still had that new bag smell. Plenty of room to pack whatever you need or use as a sleeping bag when its really wet outside. (its that big) I would definitely buy this bag again as well as any Seal Line brand because it proved itself in my backyard....Alaska!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked perfectly, protected camera gear, storage!! Needed a bag with which to hike the Zion Narrows chest-deep water and keep thousands of dollars in photo gear dry and safe. I actually put an entire camera backpack inside this bag with two DSLR's multiple lenses, a tripod, sweatshirt, water and snacks. This is a BIG, sturdy bag. It worked perfectly for me. I was a bit nervous jumping into chest deep water with camera gear on my back....but it worked perfectly.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Large Trash Bag with Straps If you're headed off on a long canoe trip there's just not too many options on the market for this type of pack. This the best one I've found, but that being said, it's not that great. Leaks and tears easily, and it's a real pain in the butt to use. Don't rely on this pack alone to keep your gear dry. Make sure anything you don't want to get wet are in a separate dry bags, maybe double bagged. The bottom looks tough, but if you sit in on rocks/roots with a hard item in the bottom (i.e., bear can), holes will form, bring your duct tape. Thank god for REI's return policy, because I'm taking two back as soon as possible. Just used on a 92 mile canoe adventure through the Allagash Wilderness in Maine. This is not a long term investment, good for one trip (you hope) -- improve product, or lower the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Enormous! I was looking at large dry bags to use for a motorcycle trip and came across this behemoth and I'm glad I did. It swallowed up all of the camping gear as well as another backpack containing clothes, toiletries, etc. for two people for a two week moto camping trip with room to spare. At 70+ mph water tends to find any weakness in gear (like my "waterproof" hiking backpack) but it kept all water out despite being caught is three different hour long downpours. It is rather thick and has held up to the rigors of bike travel as well as being checked luggage at the airport with no noticeable wear. I think it is competitively priced considering what a large size dry bag costs and being a backpack is very handy. Bottom-line: I have no idea if its good for canoeing but it exceeds my requirements and I'm very happy with it; would recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rad Pack - SealLine 115 Excellent for Loading camp in and out of canoe & portaging. Great for temporary sculptures on the North Shore of Lake Superior. It's a bit bulky, but when all your gear, food, clothes are bone dry after being caught in a storm you fall in love quite quickly!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from tough and dry bought these for solo canoeing and using them every trip. they seem very durable and have held up for a number of years. keeps out water from rain or a dump in the lake. Testing it for buoyancy in holding up my boat in order to right it, I found it will leak a bit through the seal if held submerged under pressure, but that would be very unusual circumstances.
