This rack is very easy to install, will not have a problem.. Just take your time, no rush everything will be fine with just enough time to get to your destination safe and with all your gear..! and it does make a little noise but get use to it, they all do...! I included a picture because sometimes a good visual is all it takes...! Enjoy Thule Legs and Cross Bar w/ Yakima Rack..! Who says you need to match...
Thule Surface Mount Podium Feet
This setup works great and I can continue to use my old rectangle bars and bike trays (saved $). The Thule instructions are minimal and of no value at all. After experimenting a while I figured out how to put the parts together no thanks to Thule.
Thule Roof Attachment
This Podium is used with a Fit Kit that is specifically designed for your vehicle. I used the 4052 Kit for my 2017 Subaru Outback Touring which has flush mounted factory rails. I had to ignore the instructions that came with the Podium. In my installation, I just used the large center bolt that came with the Fit Kit. After getting this tip from Thule phone support, the installation was easy. The combined product provides a very solid attachment for my kayaks, and I can quickly remove it when not in use.
Salida CO Mountain Biking
Great product! Bolts right up to the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, however you have to purchase other components to have functioning rack system, it adds up quickly. It shouldn't be the cost of nearly 2 car payments.
Mixed
I have mixed feedback. The rack is great. Installation was challenging. So well designed that it was not at all straightforward and the "international" directions pretty unhelpful. Mostly I was pretty miffed that it was clear to me that two of the three pieces had been used and returned, tho I paid full price, not garage sale. They had clear scratches and use marks. Still in good shape so I just put it together rather than go thru the hassle of returning them.
This stuff is overpriced
I am sure this is good stuff but i figure it to be overpriced by like a factor of two.
New Racks
These were exactly what I needed for my new car to use the bars I already had. REI helped install these and everything worked well with the storage box & ski racks on top of the car !
