Super comfortable, slightly bulky.
It was great when we were camping out at Bonneville for a race weekend. Slept pretty soundly for a whole week that we were there. We fit 2 cots in a three person Kelty Vortex 3 tent.
Big Cot, Big Comfort
I took this on a 1700-mile summer road trip and used it for campground camping. The Bungee suspension and width made all the difference; it is also long enough for most tall folk. Friends who tried it said it was more comfortable than their beds at home. Fortunately I had to carry it up stairs only one time. It is heavy-duty...but so worth it if you're driving many days and camping out rather than using motels. It has great stability and the head end can be raised somewhat, like a chaise lounger. Add a layer of foam only for more padding since it is insulated well enough as is. It fits behind the front seat of even a small car like mine.
A Bed, not a Cot
I was intrigued by one of these at an REI store. The ability to raise the head of this sets it apart from the typical cot. It does not pack down to a compact package and it is rigid, so transporting this is a bit of a problem. I find it is worth packing around. I really enjoy sleeping on this and have even used it as a spare bed at home. One comment on its weight--while it is heavy it is also strong. Also note that the feet are designed to disperse weight over a fairly large area. I presume this will make it compatible with tent floors, but I have not tried that. I liked it so well I bought another.
Best Camp Cot Ever!
Alright, so I seriously did my homework when cot shopping. I looked at EVERY cot I could find over the course of this past winter, i've read all the reviews, and pulled the trigger and bought 2 of these straight up. Trust me, you will not find another cot out there that is as cool as these cots. Not yet anyway, these are the best. They can be adjusted in so many different ways to make not only sleeping better, but lounging as well. They are very comfortable, plenty of room to roll around in at night if you toss and turn alot. Legs are adjustable, the feet are tent friendly (which this is the only cot with this feature), and 2 of these cots fit inside a Kingdom 4 no problem with plenty of room to spare. I don't know why no one has uploaded any pictures of this cot here for others to get a visual but I will. (See attached). The ONLY things I would ever ask for REI to improve on is the aluminum leg extensions could feel stronger or be made of a more durable material. I know they did this to conserve on weight, but if anything were to break, I would say it would be these pieces. Also, REI if your listening, if there is any way to make it more compact, that would be a huge benefit. Anything 30"x30+" isn't compact. (It's not even a huge deal, but like I said, that could be improved a little I think). Highly recommended to anyone looking for a comfortable, trouble free, camp cot look no further. Buy it!
So far so good!
Comfort Cot seems great (good padding, solid but lightweight, etc.) but has only been set up in our living room; awaiting the real-world test! My only complaint is that there was no instruction manual. While it is fairly self explanatory, a few tips/tricks on how best to adjust the legs, feet, back rest and secure them in the position you've selected would be helpful. The chair collapsed under my husband when he first sat in it likely because it wasn't 'tightened' appropriately (user error) and there are no arrows on the dials to indicate which direction it should be tightened. Looked online for a manual and didn't see one.
Cot for the bad back
I was a scout all my youth and loved to camp. After having my spine almost entirely fused two separate times before the age of 21, I figured my camping days were over. I had tried other cots and pads to no avail. Then this little gem caught my eye in a store. I picked one up and couldn't be happier. I can finally sleep in the great outdoors again. I'll never be a backpacker with my condition, but I can certainly still enjoy car camping thanks to this product. By the way, I am 6'-6" tall and 270# and have plenty of room on this thing. Also, you can't really put 2 next to each other and expect to make 1 big bed to share either, just FYI. If you have a bad back or can't sleep on the ground, get one of these immediately.
Very comfortable
I have used this for truck camping. I didn't want to build a platform as it would not have flexibility . The cot could be folded up and out of the way, even open the foot and head can fold up for easy access to items stored under the cot. Because the legs are adjustable the cot can be raised higher to accommodate storing items underneath it. The cot is so comfortable and because it is scooped there is no rolling off of this cot. You want to read you can raise the head up so it is like a lounge chair. I did not get that cold air draft from underneath the cot. I love this cot.
Highly recommended
I purchased this product as I do a lot of camping with my Boy Scout Troop and Order of the Arrow Crew. I recently injured my back and find it nigh on impossible to sleep on the ground any more. Used this cot for the first time on the last trip and slept better than ever for two straight nights. Fell right to sleep and slept all the way thru the night without waking once. It was like sleeping on my tempurpedic at home. I would recommend this cot for anyone looking for a comfortable bed away from home.
The ULTIMATE COT for back problems
My family purchased these cots last week and took them to the San Juan Islands for a long weekend. I have suffered with extreme back pain for the last 3 years and have done a ton of research to find the right cot. This is the best I could find and the research paid-off. Expectations have been exceeded with this purchase. The campsite we were assigned was about a 25 degree angle. If not for the possibility of adjusting the legs on the cots, well, let's just say it would have been a very long and painful weekend. They were very comfortable and have little pain and stiffness the next morning. I would suggest these to anyone. They are well worth the few extra bucks.
I slept like a kid at camp
I biught this for a week long camping trip and I slept almost as good as at home. This cot is very strong and very stable. We were on a slight hill and the adjustable lgs made it easy to level the cot. The It feels like sleeping on a trampoline. I am a big guy 290 6 ft XXX. The only con to this cot was it is just a little bit narrow for me. I am a side sleeper and my arm was resting on the side rail. All in all I would definatly recoment this to any big guys who need a cot.
