Excellent sleeping bag for my daughter
We bought this sleeping back for my 3 year old daughter when we went to the Sierra's. I have to say she loved this sleeping bag. It was almost too warm for her, even with temps down into the mid 30's. I would highly recommend this sleeping bag as she has plenty of room to grow as well. I did use the stuff sack to compress the leg area where my daughter did not fill up so it would be a bit shorter for her and it wouldn't rob her of body heat. There is a built in pillow in the hood which is a nice addition. The zippers are very nice too, being just as sturdy as my North Face bags. I will definitely get one for my 5 year old son as well.
Update for prior review
This is an update for my 2008 review. During a rain drenched weekend at Yosemite, my daughters' bags kept them dry even thought the water had slowly seeped through their Thermarest. My bag was damp enough inside where I actually slept on top of my bag the second and last night. I checked both of my girls, expecting the bags to be at least damp inside, but it was dry! Both girls were dry, toasty warm and fast asleep. The next morning they did not complain about anything! I have since purchased a third Kindercone for our youngest - this bag has kept all the kids warm during the cold desert (mid-Nov at Joshua Tree) and mountain nights (8000 ft). Not sure why I only gave it 4 stars back then, but it's definitely 5 stars - at least for all of our uses.
Already have three and will buy 1 more
We bought three of these bags for our kids. We are going to purchase another bag for our fourth child. We were camping at Joshua Tree in 40 degree weather in the rain, and our tent leaked. The outside of the bags were wet, however, inside the bags the kids were still warm and cozy. The bags dried quickly the next morning. The bags are easy for the kids to stuff and pack-up themselves. We are an avid car-camping family, and have been using these bags for several years in all kinds of conditions. THe kids love them and so do I - very warm, cozy, and durable!
Very good first sleeping bag for kids
My oldest has been using this bag for 3 years in a variety of conditions. It has kept her toasty warm out in Death Valley last year when the early morning temp was 30F in the tent! I bought a second bag for my other daughter's first camping trip to the Mojave Desert this year. Again these bags kept them warm in the cold and windy (gusts up to 50 mph)conditions. No complaints from either of them. The bag is a bit heavy for a young child to carry when backpacking. It's perfect for car camping and sleep overs.
Good Bag
We bought sleeping bags for our son and daughter. My daughter loves this bag. The biggest cons are that the bag does not pack down very small and the insider material is not as soft as I would like. She really loves it though because it is both warm and pink. For my son we upgraded to the Marmot Tressles sleeping bag which is an extra [$] For that[$] you get a much nicer overall bag. It compresses much smaller, comes with a compression sack, and is much more comfortable. Unfortunately it doesn't come in pink.
Comfy and Big Enough for (Some) Adults
I recently purchased the Kindercone for myself, even though I am 30. It is a cute bag and less than half the price of a comparable adult bag. It says it fits up to 5', but I am almost 5'2" and fit very comfortably inside. I haven't used it outside yet, but wanted to comment on the size! Will update!
It's a winner!
This sleeping bag arrived amazingly fast after the order was placed and I was very pleased to open the package and find no surprises, it was exactly as it appeared to be online. My daughter loves this cute, comfortable sleeping bag. It is plenty warm and the two-way zipper is great to open the bottom and create more leg room as well to cool off when it's a little warmer. I was searching online for weeks to find the perfect sleeping bag that was affordable, warm, and cute. I found it all with this bag. Also, I thought it would be a lot bulkier from the other reviews I read, but I think it compresses nicely and is no bigger than any other backpacking sleeping bag I've had. My 5-year old is too little to backpack now but we plan on using it when she is big enough. We love it!
Great bag for Pacific NW
I rented this bag for a camping car trip for the Pacific NW around Olympic National Park and Washington State. Our daughter is 46" tall and fit this bag easily. At night it got down to mid 30's and she was warm. She is a warm sleeper who sweats alot and she did great with long johns on and fully zipped. She never complained about being chilled or cold. She even slept with it half way unzipped and did fine. She used a sleeping pad also. I do wish that it had a pocket for a sleeping pad as some brands do as she tended to roll off her bag. It does have a pocket in the head to hold a pillow. That was a nice feature. It is big enough to fit a small pillow pet. I am buying on for her after seeing how it held up. I'm also recommending this to parents I work with for their kids. A great bag.
Good bag!
I bought this bag for my 4 year old daughter who is a cold sleeper and its perfect. We often camp above 8000ft in the summer and falls and it often gets into the 20's at night and this bag is perfect for her. She sleeps well and warm! The zipper is very nice and doesn't get caught at all. It packs down nice as well for our car camping needs. I would highly recommend this sleeping bag for the little ones.
Heavy but worth it!
Bought this for my 3 year old and it is HEAVY but so worth the price! She didn't want to climb into a bag and the full zip allowed us to use it as a comforter. It is also ultra warm. We used it car camping and backpacking in warm and cold conditions. The weight is worth it, but I have a feeling it will be replaced with a light bag once she starts carrying her own gear!
