My EDC tool since it was released, but

Removing tools is brilliant. What it does do, it does fairly well. The add-on kit of bits, works well (and the holders are tire leavers). It's durable and looks better with age. The knife is easy to use and is sharp. The pliers useful and the wire cutters, while not replaceable, are durable. Lastly, the built in clip is fantastic. That said I have three reservations noted below. Three things to note: The carbon fiber looks to me to be purely ornamental. Second, the bit holder for the screwdriver looses the bits unless you put a notch in the bits. The bits are proprietary- but they are also not likely to strip a screw. I have bought a number of bit kits to replace the ones that keep getting lost. This makes it less than an ideal tool- at least until I used my Dremil to notch the bits.

EDC to end all EDC

TLDR: this is an incredible multitool and probably the best Leatherman I've ever owned. If you're on the fence, get it. My first Leatherman, at age 10, was a Juice S2. Since then, I've owned a Micra, a Style CS, a Free T2, a Free T4, a Wingman, and now the Skeletool. The Juice died a sad death, and after buying the Skeletool I gave everything else away, keeping only the Wingman as a beater. The thing that really sets the Skeletool CX apart is the blade. Every other Leatherman I owned had a standard 420HC blade. The 154CM blade is far and away better than anything I've ever owned and holds an edge much better than the 420HC. Other things: - The pliers aren't needle nose and aren't spring loaded. This takes getting used to, but the wire cutters are much better and the joint mechanism is very strong. - The coating will wear heavily on the bits as you switch them out, and will be worn off the clip as you knock into stuff. Otherwise, looks like new. - The swappable bits are nice. Never had issues with losing the stored one. I usually keep the Philips in the driver because the flathead sticks out a bit and can scratch you up. - It's light, very light compared to something like a Wingman. It's super nice. - I had lots of concerns about the holes gathering dust - they did on my Style CS. Two (three?) years later and it's ever so slightly dusty on the inside, but never feels crusty or dirty. All in all, it just feels more refined and polished than most of the Leatherman tools I've owned, which it better be - it's definitely not cheap for a knife, pliers, and a driver. However, it has effectively killed my knife craze: it can play with fancier knives in terms of steel, has everything an ordinary schmuck like me needs (be honest, have you ever used the file on your tool?), and is light, durable, polished, and classy. I love it.

Bought a Skeletool CX & Squirt PS4...

and together, the two are a solid EDC! Love the LM brand and have purchased about 7 or 8 different models now since my first (Charge+) this past March. For some people, the Skeletool alone might be a bit limiting in function. For me though, I typically don’t need much more than the tools it has to offer. The bonus is that it’s light, looks cool and is fun to open & close.

Multitool with wicked sharp blade

I doubt that I would have purchased this multitool at the usual price, but a percentage-off sale combined with my member's reward sealed the deal. The tool seems well made-nothing sloppy about the action. I like the shape and sharpness of the blade. Having read about dozens of multitools, I learned that my options were stripped down and affordable, or expensive and clunky with blades or other bits and pieces I had little use for. A small scissors and a corkscrew would have been nice, but I have other options for those devices. The CX seems to be a good, well built entry multitool and there is no reason I would not recommend it to friends.

Another leatherman for daily use

Great green color and non serrated blade. I already own 2 other Skeletools but had to have this one for the REI special green just like some of the Benchmade knives they offer. It was a bonus to get it with the non serrated blade like so many of the other Skeletools have. This being the CX it has the stronger steel blade and everything else is the same. Great tool to carry daily for little tasks and repairs around the house and replacing batteries on my kids toys. I recommend this tool and use it constantly and not worried about breaking it since if I do leatherman gives a 25 year warranty of free repairs which Ive used with other leathermans so it's a win win.

Pliers are wimpy.

Pliers - The pliers are quite thin and as such don't have the grip or the tip-torque of a 'normal' leatherman. The wire cutter works great.' Handling- Extreme light weight and 'caribiner' clip make this my favorite multi-tool for everyday carry. Some thin edges make this tool a little rough in the hand, but it's still possible to grip pliers with full pressure without a great deal of discomfort. Low mass and carbon fiber makes this tool less numbing to the fingers in cold weather Knife- Good blade profile for utility cutting and puncturing. Excellent steel really holds an edge. Easily deploys from closed tool with thumb. Liner lock.

Great "basic" pocket tool

The Skeletool CX is a great daily pocket tool. It's light (although the sliver of carbon fiber has nothing to do with that), the blade is A-1 excellent, the pliers are perfect and the tool holder is standardized to fit all the Leatherman bits. The tool bit will hit the heel of your hand when you use the Skeletool as pliers. If this bothers you, just carry it with the Philips bit, which is slightly rounded, in the holder and the spare bit in the stash spot. It's as slim as a folding pocket knife, so it's easy to carry in the same manner, much more so than a more traditional leatherman. The side clip is excellent and the tools fits well to hand without requiring one to look to see what you're reaching for.

Has been a great EDC for a dozen years

I purchased my first Skeletool in about 2007/ 08. It accompanied on a trans-Sierra walk from Sequoia NP to Whitney Portal which was the first of many travels together. On all, it did what was asked of it. Unfortunately no.1 met a sad end when I loaned to a son who came back w/ one of the plier jaws broken off! Not sure what he was cutting but it must have been something that should not have been. I contacted LM and they said send it in. A week or so later a replacement showed up at the door. The only diff was that no.1 had the half-serrated blade and no.2 had a non- serrated blade. I was disappointed to learn that the serrated blade had been discontinued in this model as I really liked it. About 2012 or 13 I lost no.2. I back tracked for several days here where I live and searched high & low but no.2 did not materialize! I just hoped if found that it was by someone who would appreciate its utility and aesthetic. On the next visit tp REI no.2 was replaced w/ no.3. It has continued to be in my EDC since. Its compact, not too heavy, has the essential tools for most daily activities and has continued to accompany on travels around the west. I learned that to fly w/ it you should bury it deep in your baggage. The TSA looks unkindly on carrying this implement onto an aircraft! I had to replace bits on one. Again LM sent a small assortment after I contacted them. The pocket spring could be tempered “springier” as I have had to occasionally remove it and reform it to hug the body tightly again to maintain its holding strength. I love the way the blade is deployed and retracted one-handed. Holds an edge well. The CF is cool but at best its reducing weight a couple grams worth. Over the years I have gifted a couple to friends and will at Christmas present one to another son. I really believe this to be a great pocket tool!

Pliers are no good

Two stars because they got the design right - great minimal set of features and perfect for EDC. However, my pliers were defeated by a mere piece of barbed wire fence wire that wasn’t as thick as the plier metal, and that is unacceptable. At this price point you should be able to depend on the tool, but as you can see from the photos the pliers are made from cheap “white” metal that is no good for a tool like this. Even barbed wire is made of better steel. Love the design and the bit driver, but this will go back for warranty repair and I’m going to try a Leatherman Charge+ to see if those pliers are hopefully better. Unfortunately I cannot recommend the Skeletool.
