I received this hammock as a Christmas gift in December. It has seen much use since then. I have set it up anywhere that I can find space including indoors and outdoors. The ENO hammock is compact and able to fit in a day pack that I use for trail running. The only recommendation I have for the purchaser is to go get some 550 paracord to set it up because it does not come ready to set up out of the package. I suppose you could use the ENO slap straps however I prefer a less bulky set up (550 is cheaper also). Overall, this hammock can be set up in a basement or a forest. It is machine washable and very durable. Quality design with the consumer in mind.
Well, seems that someone decided to snag my double nest while I was in the Horn of Africa. It was bitter sweet ordeal. While I loved the spaciousness of the double nest, the endless sliding to one side or the other was quite frustrating. So I looked into the single nest hammocks and took the leap and I’m certainly glad I did. In my line of work, I fly quite often and the narrower width, sturdy construction and overall awesome quality of the ENO single nest holds up well during my flight, even through turbulence up to 2 g-forces. That being said, ENO makes a superb product that can withstand the rigors of military operations just the same as a backpacking trip soaking up some alpine vistas.
I buy the best quality I can afford... which isn't much. So when I wanted to down-size & upgrade my camping tent, I looked at all the usual brands and stumbled across this while it was on sale. I was not really impressed with the rain fly, so I sewed my own out of rip-stop. I highly recommend getting the Guardian Bug Net and slap-straps to go with this hammock system. I've taken my single-nest on many 2-3 day trips and a few 2+ week wilderness kayaking trips, and it's practically brand new. - As long as you orient yourself diagonally in the hammock, you will lie flat. - Because you can set up the hammock well above ground, you don't get the cold 'ground effect' at night. - Because you aren't on the ground, you won't get flooded during heavy rains.
Now here is a hammock that I love the most now however I do buy one every year sometimes every 6 months because "ware & terror" and I use them every night and they are extremely strong nice and compact I sleep outdoors on the beach every night in Hawaii and this is the best hammock on the market to use Definitely worth the money and definitely the best hammock for on the fly camping is I camping or on your day-to-day use I give it 10*️⃣*️⃣*️⃣*️⃣*️⃣*️⃣*️⃣*️⃣*️⃣
I bought this hammock in preparation for future camp outs, but I've taken to bringing it outside and chilling out for a few hours. I haven't gotten a chance to test it in a camp setting yet, but if I were to hazard a guess I'd say that it would do very well. I will have to buy the bug net though, since mosquitoes are capable of getting through the fabric on the bottom and biting the occupant on the back, which, considering everything else about the hammock is something I can deal with even without the net. It is hard to lie on my side in it, but since I don't really sleep that way any way it makes no difference to me. All in all it's a very worthy purchase
I love my hammock. I am a big guy and I was a bit concerned about getting the single nest after using my wife's double nest. I am very pleased with this product and recommend it to anyone wanting a hammock. It sets up easy stores well and provides hours of relaxation. I use it when I backpack for a place to sit in camp, take naps during the day for a break and for holding all of my small items like jacket, hat, water bottle, and clothes when getting dressed. It keeps me from having to set them on the ground. I have taken it to the local park and strung it up in the woods by the water and read a book and took a nap several times.
Spent a summer in Portland, used the hammock as my home and bed for a month while working in the city. Was an experimental trip that worked out well. Would recommend this in tandem with a tent if you have one, but if you are going to a destination you know is reliably dry and has features for hanging, could do hammock alone. Great product. The double one is nice as well even for a single person. Put something a bit heavy into the stuff bag attached at the mid-section and you can throw it over the top as a bug/wind shield, and offers a bit more insulation at the cost of being a bit more stuffy inside.
Ok, so I think I have already reviewed this product but I need to add more to it. Over the weekend in AZ I was on a pretty strenous hike with some friends. My buddy went into heat exahstion and we treated properly until we could get some help. There was not much shade where we were at and I almost didn't bring hammock. But I ended up using it to shade my friend to try and help cool him down and it worked beautifully. Greanted I had to get a little fancy with the set up to maximize shade, it was an awesome piece of gear for the situation. He when he was good enough to sit up we re adjusted and was sitting in it by the time the FD showed up. Great product ENO, thanks!
I started sleeping in hammocks when backpacking as a kid in the 70s--back then I had a mesh-type hammock that could get cold overnight, but I slept so well that I never considered a tent unless going above the treeline. As an adult getting back into packing light, I tried the Eno and I was transported back in time! I never sleep in a tent, now, if I can use the hammock. With a light pad under my sleeping bag, the Eno is actually warmer than the ground and infinitely more comfortable to me. I have had mine since 2008 and there's been no sign of wear or problems. I'm 5'10", 220# and I've even had my kids wrestling in it too--the construction is excellent. I toss a bit when I sleep, but I've never fallen out or even felt like I was going to. I can roll over, sleep on my side, whatever. But the best part? The stars above me as I lie in warm comfort and drift to sleep.
A very nice hammock. It's light enough to take with me on day hikes to relax in on breaks. I was able to lighten it up even more by swapping out the two original 2.2oz carabiners with the Metolius FS Mini 0.9oz Carabiners.
