Good for yak fishing

I am very happy with this PFD for kayak fishing on my local river. It has tons of space for organizing small stuff & tools, keeping them secure and handy; perfect for freshwater fishing. I am an experienced offshore yak angler (10+ yrs)and prefer a Kokatat with VHF radio pocket for salt/offshore. This vest is not quite as good as my Kokatat for comfort, and it rides up just a little bit, but I don't find it bothersome. I am short, broad shouldered, and fit is good. Material is durable. Storage pockets are great with heavy zippers. It is VERY nice to have swivels, hooks, leader spool, beads, weights at hand so I don't have to dig around and unpack stuff for a quick changeup.

Exactly what I was looking for

I've never worn a more comfortable yet durable PFD. The hard shell pockets are great for fishing accessories. I ordered the universal size and would recommend this. Simply trim off any excess strap you don't need. I took this out paddling for the first time yesterday for a few hours and it worked just as expected. Kept me warm in a chilly breeze and felt out of the way enough to where I could eventually paddle without realizing I was wearing it. Not totally sure where the rod holders are, then again rod holders on PFDs are new to me and I'm probably overlooking it? Fantastic product. Would order it again should it get lost.

Great PFD for anything

I will be using this PFD for canoeing, kayaking and in my fly fishing float tube. It's very comfortable, especially with the high back. A few pockets that will come in handy, lots of adjustment in the straps and feels very durable. The two front pockets don't stick out as much as they seem, so they don't get in the way, great for stashing things you want quick. I'm 6'2" and 200lbs and the lrg/xl fit me just fine. Would

Great Fishing PFD - Highly Recommended

This is the best PFD I've used for fishing from a float tube or small inflatable. My friends and I fly fish California's Owens river from small inflatable kayaks several times each year. I've tried several other PFDs including my whitewater guide vest for this application but the Stohlquist Fisherman PFD outperforms them all. The best thing about this PFD is it stays in place and doesn't ride up while sitting in the kayak. I also like the design which is very angler friendly. Both pockets fold open to form a tray to hold your fly boxes and each also has a hole to thread your tippet material thru. Pleanty of loops & D-rings to hang gear including one on the back for your net. Oversized arm holes allow easy mobility for both paddling & casting. Help protect our fresh water fisheries ... zero limit ... catch & release!

Excellent Option for Tripping and fishing!

At first I was a little Skeptical with this PFD in terms of fit and function. I must say that is not the case anymore. I completed a 15 day solo in BWCA and it was so useful! Great storage, strong zippers, VERY rugged exterior without causing comfort issues, Adjustments are perfect for all sizes I'm 5'10" 160 and the LARGE was perfect. I still have room to adjust up for sure and a little more down if needed. I was really please to see it did not rub on arms while paddling at all! It obviously sticks off your chest a little ways but still very comfy and NOT restricting! The bouancy is really surprising also. Did a canoe trip down the Mississippi with GF and actually floated down river with a ton of gear in pockets and it worked great! WARNING: pockets are not water proof! this should be obvious but in case you have to know lol. Overall I love this PFD and would replace without looking elsewhere if needed.

The best PFD I have used

I absolutely love this PFD. I use it for dingy sailing, canoeing, kayaking and any other water related activities I find myself doing. It is comfortable to wear days on end, and the hard pockets add the ability to stow lots of gear without it getting snagged when self rescuing. I have had it for a couple years now and used it hard all over Alaska and it still looks new.

Great

I paddle every day in this vest in my canoe and it is very unrestrictive. I hardly notice it's there. The storage pockets are great for my first aid and fishing gear.

Excellent all purpose.

Needed a PFD for mostly for boundary waters but will use it in multiple environments. Love the sturdy pockets with lots of room in them. Perfect for fishing but versatile for almost any situation. Great "catch all" PFD. Very adjustable - my Large\XLarge fits me, my wife, and my 13 year old son.

Disappointed

Poorly designed when compared to the Extrasport fishing PFD it was to replace. Rode up just as badly as the Extrasport. Straps dig into your back after a days use. Returned to the more comfortable and functional Extrasport.

Great fishing and kayaking life preserver!

Great fishing and kayaking life preserver! Loved the extra pockets and rod clasp. Also loved how it was mesh in the back and the padding fit above the kayak seat. Pockets were not cumbersome while kayaking.
